Wii U eShop Down for Maintenance

Is it regular maintenance, or something special?

The Wii U eShop is currently offline and undergoing maintenance.

The reason behind the service's downtime is unknown, but it may have something to do with tomorrow's Nintendo Direct presentation. This is just speculation, seeing how the maintenance may just be regular upkeep of the service.

Stay tuned to Nintendo World Report as we look into the situation.

Perhaps related to TVii since it's supposed to come out this month?  Just wishful thinking on my part: every time I have to switch over from Netflix to Hulu, I remember how much I can't wait for TVii.

If you click on the "Wii U" part, it says it's "scheduled maintenance".

If you scroll down, it says it's "emergency maintenance".

I'm gonna go with "Emergency Schedule Maintenance". :D

And I here I am, fresh $20 card with money ready to be spent. I hope it's not a long downtime.

But the reports are its been delayed to 2013, thought the wording of it has led to some debate whether the delay was just for Europe or if it included North America too.

If it's down to make it ready for the Nintendo Network then that makes sense to me. While I have not bought anything from the Wii U's eShop yet I hope it'll be back up soon for those who wanna.

(And for those (like me) looking to add more friends to their Wii U friends list much ID is KITT_10K. Feel free to add me.)

Perhaps they are adding a gift feature just in time for the holidays?
