Get ready for Shantae's new swashbuckling adventure. UPDATE: Now with more details.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is coming exclusively to the 3DS eShop, as revealed by the cover of the latest issue of Nintendo Power.

In this direct sequel to the popular DSiWare game, Shantae: Risky's Revenge, players can expect to see Shantae team up with Risky as she adjusts to no longer being a genie. The world is twice as large as the previous entry and sports a Metroid style map.

It has also been revealed that the 3D effects are similar to those in Mighty Switch Force, and will again be scored by Jake Kaufman.

The specific release date for this title is as of yet unknown but will be coming out some time in 2013.

Sold. Shut up and take my money.

Small correction:  His name is Jake Kaufman, not Jack.

Why is this monitor not accepting my credit card?

I'm certainly excited, but WayForward has never replicated the Metroid experience successfully. People insist of WF working on a Metroid game, and I'm sure they'd handle the sprites fine, it's the exploration they can't seem to nail down.

I'm taking my debit card out of my wallet, but WayForward isn't taking it. WHAT'S GOING ON?!

I suppose I should go back and actually play the copy of Risky's Revenge I've had on my DSi and then 3DS for the last couple years.

I would like to join in with the folks banging their debit cards against their monitors in frustration that they can't have them magically send money to Matt Bozon's personal account. I will say that I wasn't expecting this so soon! <3

This.

I dunno, I certainly hope Pirate's Curse has more content than Risky's Revenge, because while that game was okay, it wasn't as great as it could have been. It could have been a bit longer, and had a better styled map.

All that's been said about Pirate's Curse looks REALLY good, though.

Nintendo Power's website has a few screenshots. Pirate's Curse looks identical to Risky's Revenge. Not a bad thing. I am hoping for a Wii U Shantae title with HD sprites.

Do y'all think there's any chance they will release the original Shantae on the e-shop too?

Last time I checked, WayForward is trying to do that. I think Capcom owns some of the rights to the first game, which is the only problem.

Jake Kaufman soundtrack is reason enough to buy. Time to dip back into eshop content.

Capcom is actually no longer a license holder!

As of June, they were just waiting for it to get through Nintendo's queue...
