The Wii U version will be playable in full HD.

Skylanders Giants will run in 1080p when it launches on Wii U, revealed Karthik Bala, co-studio head of Vicarious Visions in an interview with Nintendo World Report.

Skylanders Giants joins Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Toki Tori 2 as games 100 percent confirmed to display in 1080p on Wii U. Nintendo has said that all launch first-party Wii U titles will run in 720p.

Though Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in 1080p is the one I'm looking most forward too visuals wise.  Tri looks really nice.

Is this 1080p on 360 and ps3 also?  I wanna see what games are *only* 1080p on Wii U.

It's likely not native 1080p on the PS3 or XBOX360, but it could be upscaled (This is based on historical facts as there are very few native 1080p games on those systems, I have not heard anything about it yet). I am looking forward to ZombiU's native 1080p, built from the ground up specifically for the Wii U. It looks rather impressive.

Why would any developer release a game at 720p? That makes no sense! Wii U is a 1080p console, so the games should be 1080p as well!

Paleselan, developers can do more graphical tricks and put more on the screen at 720p with less effort. I'm guessing as people start mastering the Wii U hardware they will be able to do 1080p more often.

Is 1080p really such a big deal that it warrants each game to use it to have its own news article?

Considering that the number of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games that are actually 1080p (and not just upscaled) is less than 10%, it's noteworty.

paleselan, the higher the resolution the more processing power the game requires (and thus can do less in other areas).
