Castlevania: Lord of Shadow - Mirror of Fate Officially Delayed to Early 2013

Konami's latest portable Castlevania game is no longer coming out this fall.

Konami officially confirmed the delay of Castlevania: Lord of Shadow - Mirror of Fate to early 2013 in North America in a press release today.

Suspicion of the 3DS game's delay arose when it was not on Nintendo's 3DS fall release list. When we contacted Konami regarding the situation, they didn't confirm or deny the delay, merely saying that information was coming soon. At Gamescom, Konami announced a 2013 release date for Mirror of Fate in Europe.

From developer MercurySteam, Mirror of Fate is set in the world set up by 2010's Lords of Shadow. Players control four different characters throughout different time periods.

Konami Announces Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate Coming Early 2013

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced that the action adventure title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate will be available in early 2013 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS™system.

"It's been two years since the enormous success of Castlevania Lords of Shadow, and with this next installment, we want to take the necessary time needed to give fans a handheld title unlike any other," said Dave Cox, Producer of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and Head of Product Planning and Development for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate will bridge the storyline to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, also planned to release in 2013. Both titles will reveal the shocking fate of the Belmont Clan in a dramatic culmination of the Lords of Shadow saga."

Developed by Mercury Steam, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate takes place 25 years after the events of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and is a precursor to the highly anticipated and recently announced Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate reveals the story of Gabriel Belmont's descendants, Simon and Trevor Belmont, as they battle their own destiny only to discover their true, shocking fate.

So beyond no Monster Hunter, now no Castlevania this year. Christmas time is looking pretty bleak right now.

And no, the Wii U doesn't help, because it doesn't have any exclusive games that one must have Day 1.

In your opinion, of course. Many people, including me would disagree. New Super Mario Bros. U and ZombiU alone both look great and are exclusive to Wii U and are launch games. Pikmin 3 may or may not be launch, but it took looks to be a great game.

Don't forget Rayman Legends, which we just learned is Wii U exclusive and is really excellent.
