Video chat is a go guys!

During the Nintendo Direct conference, Nintendo played a demonstration video showing some interactive features unique to the system.

The first is a game FAQ message board function that allows the player to ask questions about certain sections of a game. The second major feature is a built-in video chat function, which uses the Wii U GamePad's built-in camera to allow friend-to-friend video communication.

All of these functions can be used while the game continues to run in the background.

If Nintendo is planning video chat through the controller at the distance from the TV demonstrated in the Wii U Online Action Promo, they must have upgraded the camera. I know the promo was simulated but the image on the TV looked pretty crisp.

I'm impressed by how advanced the Wii U's online aspect seems. Miiverse is particularly impressive.

There's only one thing I care about...

Will Non-Specific Action Figure be playable in Super Smash Bros 4?!?!?!

God I hope so...

Non-specific Action Figure looks like Captain Rainbow with some Devil thrown in.

Hmm....I wonder if the cam can be used for games like Kinect. I know its just a simple cam but would be a nice little bonus

I don't think it's Kinect level. My very un-researched understanding is that Kinect uses special infrared cameras in addition to regular cameras and that it uses advanced software algorithms to actually recognize the fact that it's looking at a human body.

I don't even know if the Wii U camera is above 1 megapixel?
