The clock has struck midnight on the East Coast. 3DS has hit America.

3D is now in the palm of your hand as Nintendo's newest handheld, the 3DS, is in stores now. Alongside the system, there are 16 launch games, including three from Nintendo.

At Nintendo's grand launch event in New York City, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime reiterated the May eShop-enabling system update and riled up the crowd.

Send in your launch pictures/stories/videos to 3DS-at-nintendoworldreport.com.

Yay, I won some awesome Capcom shot glasses!

I preordered at GameStop and got mine at midnight. I bought five games with it; I'm not sure where the people saying the launch lineup sucks are coming from.

I was worried going in that I wouldn't be able to see the 3D since I have some eye issues and had never seen anything in 3D before, but I can, and it's awesome.

I manipulated my sleep schedule so that I woke up late yesterday afternoon so I could stay up all night playing 3DS, and I'm having a lot of fun with it so far.

Anytime.

Over here you can just walk into a store and find huge piles of 3DS, if it's like that in the US you won't need to worry about not having a preorder.

I'm getting ready right now to leave for my Gamestop's 9 a.m. opening. I have one preordered, so no worries.

Leaving now to Kmart. I don't have one preordered, but I picked up DS Phat and DSi both on launch day; no lines. I was the first customer actually.

I pre-ordered the 3DS and Street Fighter on Amazon, which sort-of defeats the purpose of pre-ordering... :( It should arrive this Thursday.

not as cool as free swag. but as usual with portables in my area
i walked into toys r us about noon with no preorder and got one of the
10 blk 3DS's or 4 blue.
i got a blk 2 games for 30 each and screen protector.
in my area portable gaming isnt big, at least at launch.

KDR_11kMarch 27, 2011

I picked the cyan one (there's no way THAT is blue). With the finish on the lid the color looks nicer than a black one.

Games are 45€ here (guess they had to increase the price from the DS in some way), compared to 40€ for Wii and DS games. A few of the games even went for 50€, I paid 48€ for Samurai Warriors Chronicles. Then again games were 60€ at the Wii launch and later dialed down to 40€ (first party) to 50€ (third party).

Played it all day yesterday, the system is awesome! SSF IV 3D is literally the definitive launch title for the system IMHO.
