Capcom is eager to work with the creators of the Professor Layton series.

Capcom's Global Head of Production, Keiji Inafune, has confirmed in an interview with Japanese business site Diamond Online that they are working with Level-5 on new projects. When asked how he felt about collaborating with the development company, Inafune stated that "Right now, the two of us, with our staff, are working together on some truly interesting things. Even though Mr. Hino is younger, he's someone I respect. I wanted to try working with him, so I contacted him." Akihiro Hino is President and CEO of Level-5.

Despite not sharing any details about the upcoming projects, he expressed his thoughts on Level-5's work ethic. "The thing I most respect about Hino is his work ethic. Before I met Hino, I had confidence in the amount of work I was doing, and even thought that maybe I was the hardest working person in the game industry. But after meeting him, I thought, 'I'm probably not number one.'"

Level-5 is best known around the world for the Professor Layton series and Dragon Quest IX, while in Japan they are also known for the Inazuma Eleven series. According to Inafune, the success of these franchises is what drove Capcom to collaborate with them. "The Professor Layton series has shipped 9.5 million units worldwide," Inafune continued. "The Inazuma Eleven series has shipped 2.7 million units domestically. Who wouldn't want to work with someone like Hino, who works hard and also produces results?"

A Street Fighter game that plays like Professor Layton. That's what immediately came to my mind.
