The latest Nintendo DS Academy opens in October.

Nintendo of America announced that Art Academy, for Nintendo DS, will be released on October 25, 2010.  Designed to allow users to create their own works of art and to teach real-world art skills, it will retail for $19.99.

Art Academy is a compilation of Headstrong Games' two DSiWare titles, Art Academy: First Semester and Art Academy: Second Semester, plus additional content. It has tools for creating various styles of art, and includes tutorials on topics such as shading, perspective, and color each designed to enhance the user's skills.  The compilation, which is compatible with both DS and DSi systems, adds ten additional lessons and forty motifs, for players to use as inspiration, to the content that was already part of the two DSiWare titles.

Art Academy was released in Japan back in mid-June, and was met with strong sales. It peaked at number three on the Japanese software charts. It has already been announced for a European release on August 8, and an Australian release on September 23.

Sounds like fun, but I'll wait for the sequel on 3DS. Now that will be fun
