The new handheld features an analog stick, a larger, wider top screen, and plenty of other goodies.

The Nintendo 3DS was finally unveiled at Nintendo's E3 2010 Press Conference today. The device looks nearly identical to a Nintendo DSi, except that it has a larger, wider top screen along with an analog stick.

The 3DS has similar hardware at first glance, but it packs quite a bit more under the hood. It features a motion sensor and a gyro sensor, as well as two camera lenses on the underside of the unit that allow users to take 3D photos. There is also a slide bar that allows users to adjust the level of 3D in the game that they're playing.

One interesting feature is the ability to play 3D movies. Dreamworks, Warner Bros., and Disney will have a trio of movies on display - playing on a 3DS - on the E3 show floor. Satoru Iwata stated that they have no movie services to announce at the moment.

The Nintendo 3DS will also have a background online service that will search for other 3DS systems, or WiFi access points, without you knowing it. This will allow tasks to go on in the background (such as downloading DLC) while another game is being played.

There was no release date or launch details given for the Nintendo 3DS system.
