Tecmo chief offers his opinion on who the new device will appeal to.

In an interview with Nikkei, Tecmo Koei CEO Kenji Matsubara offered his initial thoughts on the Nintendo 3DS.

When asked what group the hardware is targeting, Matsubara unsurprisingly expected it to appeal to early adopters initially. "3D games don't have a sales record yet, so I don't know. However, I suspect it will be more accepted by core gamers rather than casual players. When you bring something new to the market, the core player group first finds it interesting, and then it expands from there. I believe current DS core gamers who like new things and core gamers who don't have a DS will be the first to jump in. After that, it will be up to the content."

Matsubara did not mention whether or not Tecmo Koei would be supporting Nintendo 3DS.

I would hope that they are.

If they are supporting it, it won't be long before we get a DoA 3DS game.

The other part of this story was about Tecmo losing lots of money and the CEO basically saying, "We f**ked up".  Maybe they'll take their own advice and throw a little more support behind Nintendo platforms.

I hope most 3rd parties learned that lesson this gen.

It will still suck regardless. Not that we're honestly missing that much, IMHO.

Dynasty Warriors? Samurai Warriors? Maybe Dynasty Warriors: Gundam.

I am hoping for a Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword sequel for the 3DS. I really liked the first game and I am looking forward to a sequel. I imagine the 3DS will have enough graphical horsepower to make the game similar to its console bretheren.
