The Rhythm Heaven-esque game shows off its gameplay on Facebook and offers up prizes as well.

THQ revealed yesterday that Beat City, a rhythm-based mini-game collection, is getting its own Facebook application.

Free of charge, it allows players to try out three of the game's mini-games, and compete for prizes.

Once a week for four weeks, THQ will be offering a DSiXL in a random drawing. To enter, all you have to do is suggest the Beat City application to a friend, and then get them to accept.

Players can also challenge their friends in high score competitions.

Beat City is due on April 20 with MSRP of $19.99

THQ UNVEILS FREE FACEBOOK APPLICATION FOR 'BEAT CITY'

Challenge Friends to Win Big Prizes with the New Game that Nintendo Power

Awarded a Review Score of 8.5 out of 10

In advance of the April 20 launch of Beat City, an easy pick-up and play game for the Nintendo DS™, THQ today announced a free Facebook application that gives fans an early feel for the fun and addictive gameplay, and offers them a chance to win valuable prizes via a free online sweepstakes residing on the Beat City Facebook page. Once a week for four weeks, one lucky winner will win their own DSi XL. Simply suggest your friends play the Beat City application and if they accept, they too will be eligible to win the same prize.

The new application lets users choose from three mini-games where they will need to find their rhythm in order to restore Beat City to the vibrant, melodious city it once was. The better a player is at keeping the beat the more items are unlocked in the environment.

Ratcheting up the fun is a special Challenge Mode which lets players send their best scores to friends in their network and challenge them to beat the score.

Facebook users can access the game through the “Games” menu in Facebook or through the official Beat City Fan Page on Facebook.
