The Yellow Forest route features tons of Pikachu, including special ones.

Nintendo announced that the Yellow Forest Pokéwalker route is available as of April 1 in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

The exclusive route features an array of Pikachus, some of which know Surf or Fly, and will be available until May 5.

Players can download the route by selecting Mystery Gift on the main menu. For more detailed instructions, check out the official website.

Once you D/L the route, will you get to keep it indefinitely or does it go away after the 5th?

I believe indefinitely. I'll try to get a concrete answer, but I don't think it expires on May 5, I think you just can't download it anymore.

Should be plenty of time for me to find a Wi-Fi spot with low enough security to let my DSi connect to it.

Got it yesterday morning. Gotta hit the 10,000 step mark to catch the Flying and Surfing Pikachus. Can you believe I still haven't caught a Pikachu in the main game? I haven't even seen one in the wild yet.

More info.

I've been catching a ton of Pokemon on this thing. I love it.

Epic fail. I guess I used the wrong Alt+ during this article.

Don't feel bad, they're in the last quarter of the game unless you evolve the Pikachu-Colored Pichu. And they're level 4.

Is there some sort of trick to catching on the pokewalker? I usually just tap the button whenever it says, "Find a Pokemon!" but I have a very high rate of "it got away."

10,000 steps shouldn't be too big of a deal, my campus has pretty crappy parking so I end up logging at least 15,000 on a normal day.

You have to click the bush that has the exclamation point (!) above it.

I realize that, I meant once I have clicked the exclamatory bush I am not sure if there is some sort of skill to getting a pokemon to appear.

DasmosApril 03, 2010

Well obviously you have realised that there's often more than one. You have to keep clicking the bushes with the exclamation mark, they won't get away.

I don't think you understand my question. When I enter the catch mode, I will often click a bush and the prompt to "find a pokemon" will appear multiple times and as I click that bush the pokemon will often get away. The message will always read, "it got away...". Never once has there been more than one bush at a time with an exclamation point, and never once have I clicked a bush and had the exclamation point move to another bush.

What is the plural form of Pokémon names? Do you add an "s" to all of them? The plural of Pokémon is still Pokémon, so I'm wondering if this carries over to each name of every species...

Either your Pokéwalker is broken or you're doing it wrong. The exclamation point will move from bush to bush, upto four times. The first two times a single ! will appear, the third time will show up as !! and the fourth will be !!!. Only if you miss a bush will the Pokémon get away.

StratosApril 03, 2010

It took me a bit to figure out the bush thing as well because I assumed that it was like the item finding one where it was random chance. This one you wait a moment for the exclamation to appear and then click it. Then you wait again for another exclamation to pop up and click that one. Repeat until you enter a pokemon fight.

My Pokewalker apparently is a fan of statistical anomalies, today for the very first time the exclamation point moved. This is after I have used it at least one hundred times.

I think the plurals are always (or at least almost always) the same as the singulars. This may have to do with the fact that Pokemon names are only up to 10 characters. Adding an 's' to pluralize would be weird in the game especially since you have Pokemon like Feraligatr missing letters.

TJ SpykeApril 04, 2010

It depends on the Pokemon. The game doesn't really talk about Pokemon in the plural sense, but the show and the movies do.

I really think you're doing it wrong:

You use the pokeradar, and a few moments after, a "!" appears.  Move the cursor to the bush it appears in, and select that.  If you chose the correct bush in time, it'll say "Found Something!" or something similar to that.  From there, either a battle starts, or seemingly nothing will happen.  If "nothing" happens, after a few more moments, another "!" will appear, over any of the four bushes.  Again, highlight it and select the bush, and once more, a battle will start or nothing will happen.  This can happen two more times, resulting in seeing a "!!" and "!!!," which just indicate the rarity of the Pokemon.

The thing is, unless you have a large number of steps built up, it can be impossible to move past the first and second "!," just because without enough daily steps, you can't battle the Pokemon you can see in the "!!" and "!!!" groups.

When you see the "It got away..." message, it means one of two things:  You waited too long to select the "!" bush, or you selected the wrong "!" bush.  The "It got away..." message never comes up if you're clicking the bushes correctly.

nickmitchApril 07, 2010

Are you taking enough steps to see more than the first "!"? That could also be the problem.

Got 2 surfing Pikachu. Still can't get one with Fly or Volt Tackle though. :/
