According to Ubisoft's website, Red Steel 2 is hitting stores on March 23.

Ubisoft's Red Steel 2 game page shows a March 23 release date for the Wii first-person shooter.

Red Steel 2, which requires Wii MotionPlus and will come bundled with the peripheral upon release, was originally slated for fall 2009, but was delayed into the first quarter of 2010.

Honestly, I'm glad it was delayed. As Miyamoto said, "a delayed game is good eventually; a rushed game is bad forever." Red Steel 1 was rushed, and we know how that worked out. I don't mind waiting as long as it takes for Red Steel 2 to be good, just so as long as when it does come out it IS GOOD.

What if it gets TP syndrome; starts off strong and falls thru towards the end because ubisoft stopped caring since you know "hardcore games don't sell on wii" and thats why they sliced their sales predictions in half for this title?

edit: Looky that, linked an article from today to yesterdays post ;)

They have a little over two months to start the hype train. DO SOMETHING UBI

You know what's going to be funny is if this game is popular and sells like crazy now that they've slashed their predictions for it. What ever 3rd parties predict will happen is going to be the exact opposite of what will really happen. So Ubisoft lowering their sales projection for this game is an encouraging sign.

Almost everything we have heard about the game so far has been positive, but lately I haven't heard much. Out of sight, out of mind. This thing needs another Game Informer cover, it needs some hands from the gaming press, it needs a Super Bowl commercial.

I think Ubisoft slashed their sales prediction when they realized it wouldn't have online multiplayer.  Welcome to 1996, Ubi.

KDR_11kJanuary 18, 2010

Shouldn't they have cut them more over lack of local MP? The Wii is HEAVY on that and I think The Conduit may have sold more if it had been that "everybody on the same couch" FPS for this generation.

ShyGuyJanuary 18, 2010

Ugh, not every game needs multiplayer.

Except the classic text adventure Zork. It needs, no REQUIRES 16 player deathmatch. Deduct 4 points from any retro review until it is added in.

KDR_11kJanuary 18, 2010

Not every game does but an FPS on the Wii? there are currently almost no local MP FPSes on a system that would be perfect for those.

Also I bet there's a Zork MUD.

I'd have to agree with KDR here. I think a lot of Nintendo Fans, includings myself, were looking to relive the glory days of Goldeneye/Perfect Dark. Local Multiplayer is just one of the things that'd be absolutely essential for that.

FPS on the Wii with splitscreen multiplayer:

RedSteel 1
Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz
Medal of Honor: Vanguard
Metroid Prime Trilogy (Metroid Prime 2: echoes)

That's four. How many 360 or PS3 games have split screen multiplayer?
edit: Far Cry Vengeance on the Wii has two person multiplayer, that makes it FIVE
Did you people dislike Bioshock and are you hyped for Bioshock 2 Multiplayer?

"Definitely not (as in, I loved it)" and "meh, whatever", respectively.  I'll probably give Bioshock 2's Multiplayer the same treatment I gave Uncharted 2's: I'll dabble with it long enough to get whatever trophies are attached to them, and then I'll just ignore it.  That stuff's really not much fun unless you know the people you're playing against...or there's Co-op.  ;)

I really don't understand this new trend of shoving multiplayer modes in game experiences where they don't belong, such as Uncharted 2; Bioshock 2; and especially Dead Space 2.

Honestly, I don't see the big draw in local multiplayer in Wii FPS titles.  Sure, if the title is using a dual analog stick setup, by all means put it in.  But if it's a traditional Wii FPS with pointer control, you really have to have a huge TV for local multiplayer to be practical.  For all its faults with Nintendo's ****ty online service, the best route for Wii FPS titles is online play because of the control scheme.
