The worst kept secret of the weekend is now official.

Ubisoft have revealed Mario + Rabbits: Sparks of Hope at their Ubisoft Forward presentation today. The sequel to the 2017 strategy game will add Rabbid versions of Rosalina and Luma, befitting its new intergalactic setting as Mario characters team up with Rabbids to save "Sparks" hidden around the galaxy. Announcements continued to pour in for Switch at the second Guerrilla Collective show and its companion, the Wholesome Direct.

How will Ubisoft move forward from this?

Nintendo seemed to have uploaded the page for the-yet unannounced sequel to Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle early (Update: The page has since been taken down). The sequel will be called Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and releases in 2022. The game is published by Ubisoft and seems to feature new Rabbidfied versions of classic Mario characters like Rosalina and even a Rabbid Luma. The description on the page reads as follows:

We wouldn't have known this as recently as a few weeks ago, but Nintendo dropped a pre-summer bomb with this week's major release, Game Builder Garage. The game creator lacks ways to get at creations without the screenshot functions of the Switch, but looks to give us all a lesson in how to make the simple stuff.
