A one-off partnership with Target will see Wii Fit branding on race cars in each series' respective biggest and longest races of the year.

Chip Ganassi Racing, one of the biggest race teams in the country, has announced a special one-off partnership with Nintendo and the team's primary sponsor, Target, to appear in what Nintendo is calling the “Wii Fit 1,100.”

Nintendo and Wii Fit branding will appear on one car each in two different races: The No. 16 IndyCar Series car in the Indianapolis 500 held in Indianapolis, Ind; and the No. 40 NASCAR car in the Coca-Cola 600 held in Charlotte, N.C. Both races will be held on Memorial Day, May 25.

“Wii Fit is an easy way for every member of the family to keep active and play together, and we felt this day of auto racing was a perfect match,” said Steve Bickham of Nintendo of America. “A day at the races is always lots of fun, but these drivers need to be in top shape to endure the 1,100 miles that Team Ganassi will race that day.”

Sweet. Wii Fit cars! And now they have an Indy car too.

DAaaMan64May 15, 2008

Formula 1 please. And did they have to be WiiFit cars?  A bunch of beer drinking hicks are gonna think thats totally gay.  oh wait

Formula 1 is only really popular in Europe, Nintendo can't risk selling them any more Wii Fit, the continent is a couple hundred thousand balance boards away from sinking into the ocean.

This is great!

Asia too, and South America. Basically everywhere except the USA. That's way too expensive a business for Nintendo to get involved in though, there'd be no point. Nintendo could have saved the F1 Super Aguri team from bankruptcy and become heroes in Japan, which would have been really cool but the costs would be astronomical. This move makes the most sense.

Now give me some damn racing games to play on Wii.

It's the soccer of motorsports.  ;D

It would be really cool if at some point some racing game for the Wii had these Wii Fit cars as unlockables.  Or hell just make them selectable from the start.  Personally I would hope for a more arcadey Daytona USA kind of game, instead of the Gran Turismo sim style.

EnnerMay 16, 2008

Oh, how I wish for a new Daytona USA game with music and vocal songs by Mitsuyoshi Takenobu. I just can't get enough of "ROOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLING STAAAAAAAAART!"

lol Wii Fit car crashed and almost killed a group of people in pitlane

That's a good two minutes airtime because it was nowhere else in the race

I WAS THERE.

I didn't see any of the race, but I did manage to play like 30 games of Asshole.

AS much as I would also like a new Daytona USA, I would like a Gran Turismo like sim even more.
