RPG fans will be rejoicing when Final Fantasy IV DS is released this July.

The DS remake of the seminal Square-Enix game, Final Fantasy IV, is officially coming to America. Already out in Japan, the RPG will hit U.S. shores on July 22nd.

Originally released in the U.S. in 1991 as Final Fantasy II, the game originated the series’ Active Time Battle system that was used up until Final Fantasy XI. It was also the first game in the series to feature a character-driven plot. The game's star, Cecil, is a Dark Knight who begins to question his king’s motives and eventually becomes embroiled in an epic story that spans three realms and has twelve playable characters.

This new version will contain a plethora of new additions to the game including: new 3D graphics, new bits of story, cut scenes with voice-overs, a new score by series composer Nobuo Uematsu, and a whole lot more.

The only FF game I've ever liked, so I'm sold.

I enjoyed FF III on the DS and I've heard this one is much better so I can't wait :)

Just being nit-picky here, but FFX went back to turn-based battles.

Either way, I'm really looking forward to this one.

Even though I just played FFIV on GBA like 3 years ago, I'm still getting this one.  I just read a preview in NP and now I'm super psyched for this game.  Edward doesn't suck anymore!  Woo-hoo!

Crap, you're right. That comes from me not playing too much of FFX and because of minimal playtime, not noticing many differences from the gameplay of that compared to prior games.
