A wide variety of games make their return to Japan next month.
Nintendo has updated its Virtual Console page in Japan, and that means a list of seventeen new titles for gamers there to look forward to in November.
For the Famicom (NES), Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu, the second Goemon (Mystical Ninja) platformer from Konami, will be the first out, followed by the Joust-inspired Balloon Fight from Nintendo. Capcom’s Makaimura, better known in the rest of the world as Ghosts ‘n Goblins, and Hudson’s first Famicom game, Nuts & Milk, are also scheduled. Finally, King’s Knight, a lesser-known RPG from Square-Enix, will wrap up the month’s Famicom releases.
The Super Famicom (SNES) sees a lone release next month, one more than is scheduled for the Nintendo 64. Nintendo/Intelligent System’s popular action puzzler, Panel de Pon, which was localized in the US as Tetris Attack and later as Puzzle League, is the singular title.
Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) fans can expect three releases in November, beginning with Ecco Jr., a younger generation spin-off of the popular underwater franchise. Notably, Ecco Jr. appears to be a reverse import: it was originally only released in the US and Australia. Also from Sega are Light Crusader, an action RPG developed by Treasure, and a fighting game, Eternal Champions.
The PC Engine (TurboGrafx-16) has five releases slated, including four CD games. The first is Chou Eiyuu Densetsu: Dynastic Hero from Hudson, another confusingly-named game in the Wonderboy series that plays much like an upgraded Dragon’s Curse. Dragon Spirit, a fantasy-themed vertical shooter from Bandai-Namco, is the sole HuCard game for the month. Following that is A Ressha de Ikou 3 (A-Train III), a train simulator from Artdink, which was once published in the US on PC by SimCity creator Maxis. Marvelous Entertainment joins the Virtual Console with its RPG, Kawa no Nushi Tsuri Shizenha, part of the Legend of the River King series. The horizontal shooter, Gradius II Gofer no Yabou, from Konami was delayed in October, but should be released in November.
Last, but not least, SNK has three Neo-Geo games ready for next month, all of which will be published by D4Enterprise. The first is The King of Fighters ’94, part of one of the Neo-Geo’s biggest franchises. Baseball Stars 2 and a side-scrolling co-op platformer/brawler named Top Hunter will also be released in November.
As usual, Famicom games cost 500 points, Mega Drive and PC Engine games cost 600 points, Super Famicom and PC Engine CD games cost 800 points, and Neo-Geo games cost 900 points. The MSX games still do not have a firm release date.
