Soon we'll see Bonk 3, Neutopia II, and more.
As usual, Hudson has announced the TurboGrafx-16 lineup for the month in advance. First up in September is Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure, which comes out in Europe and Australia today. It will see an American release on Monday. The final Bonk game on the Turbo platform introduced candies that make players grow to gigantic and miniscule sizes. The game is relatively rare and sells for fairly high prices on eBay, so a VC release is welcome.
Next up is Hudson's adventure game, Neutopia II. The first Neutopia was released this month and the second game follows the Zelda-clone format. Though the game's title screen features a sword much like Zelda II's intro, Neutopia II retains the overhead gameplay of the original.
Hudson is also releasing one of their earlier sports game, World Class Baseball. The game features twelve teams with ridiculous names such as the Paris Fries and the Peking Ducks. Irem's Legend Of Hero Tonma wraps up the monthly selection. This side-scrolling action game was first released in the arcades and features gameplay similar to Ghosts 'n Goblins. Japan gets Legend of Hero Tonma a few weeks earlier on September 4th.
Japan gets an almost completely different set of games in September. Arriving with Legend of Hero Tonma is Override, a shooter from from G-Mode. Next is Konami's Salamander, the Gradius sequel that was changed to Life Force on the NES in the US. Next is the strategy game, Gaiflame, from Hudson. Last up is yet another of Konami's shooters, Detana!! Twinbee, also known as Bells and Whistles outside of Japan.
