Post here to be an internet superstar!

Last week, we asked our forum posters what they thought of the current Wii library. The posts and poll (39% to 43%) were split fairly evenly between satisfied and disappointed. We'll highlight some of the more interesting posts here, but first, let's get to this week's Hot Topic and the attached prize!

This week's Hot Topic:

Do you use the Virtual Console? If you're a big Nintendo fan, maybe you have most of the games already. Or maybe you're a barnacled ROM pirate, or maybe you don't even care about old games. The Virtual Console seems like a big success, but is it on your Wii? Tell us why it sucks or rocks!

*Due to a mysterious anomaly, the original Hot Topic thread has been lost. If you posted in the thread before Wednesday evening, please post in it again. Sorry for the bother!

What we're giving away this week:

Transformers: "Autobot Jazz" action figure, brand new in unopened packaging. Robot transforms into a gray Pontiac Solstice. An Autobots fridge magnet will also be included. Pretty sweet!

Autobot Jazz - Hot Topic Prize! Autobot Jazz - back of the box

Reminder: We can only ship to the U.S. & Canada. Posting multiple times will not increase your chances of winning, and spamming posts, breaking the forum rules, or otherwise being a terrible poster may disqualify you or get your account banned. Be sure to check the forum rules before posting. And you can't post if you're not a member of our forums, so if you want to get a chance to win a prize, register now!

Now, back to the forum roundup. HadesGigas is this week's random drawing winner for Super Mario Bros Super Show DVD. If he can win, you sure can! If you didn't catch the whole thread, here's a sampler of some of the finer posts:

It's because of Wii Sports, period really. It's a pack in, one of the first in a long time for a launch console, and as many have stated before it's appealing to a much broader audience than any game in memory. Nintendo clearly played their cards right, and the success has followed.

In terms of the current library of titles, I honestly haven’t purchased a game since launch. Paper Mario could change that, but I’m really so hooked on Pokemon right now that it doesn’t really matter. So, disappointing? Sure, but it’s not impacting me personally. My Wii keeps getting fired up, though, whenever the blue light flashes to tell me there is a new message there. And really, that’s one of the most surprising things about the Wii is how appealing some of the "non-game" aspects have been for me.

I’ll be more then happy with the system’s library, though, when both Godzilla: Unleashed and Smash Bros Brawl come out later this year for a lot of multiplayer fun.

I have to say, the only reason I want to turn my system on is for the classic video games. Already I've spent over $200 on 30 something games. The actual Wii software library doesn't really interest me, and I've traded in Rayman raving Rabbids and Red Steel. I haven't done that in years, which concerns me; these 3rd party titles aren't going to be up to snuff as Nintendo's first party offerings. Plus the fact that developers don't even seem to have a clue as to what to do with the control scheme makes me feel that there wont be any good games.

Thats not to say the Wii has nothing, pretty much all the big hitters are in the holiday season, and there are a LOT of titles I'd like to get, including Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy, Mario and Sonic, and Nights. Along with Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Strikers Charged as well. But I kind of wish some of these titles already came out. Zelda was good, but not the behemoth it was played out to be, which is rather disappointing.

Oh well, I'll take some of these old games to pass the time away...

I personally own 2 wii games...one of which came w/ it, WiiSports of course...the other being Zelda. Do I think the Wii library is substantial so far? In all honesty, no. I do think it's good for the casual market and the "expanding market" that Nintendo is trying to capture, including games such as Raving Rabbids and WarioWare, etc. But I'm not spending any money on any new games until Brawl comes out, except perhaps on RE4 only b/c of it's cheaper price tag. The reason it's selling so well is it's fun and easy for kids, adults, and everybody else...hopefully the library will catch up soon enough for the rest of us more mainstream gamers.

Chasefox, have you at least rented Trauma Center? What about Super Paper Mario? The Godfather? Excite Truck? Do you have anything at all on the Virtual Console? Is there a reason why you don't want to try these games, at least? I know that if I had enough time for it, I would own Wario Ware. Did you not like the previous entries in the Wario Ware saga? Saying you're unhappy with the line up doesn't mean much if you haven't at least tried what is in the line up out. I know I've been arguing that the Wii is a little too barren, but I'm trying to point out another perspective, the one of the gamer who had the time to play through all of the big titles out there, and is sick of waiting for an exclusive.

Obviously we disagree, and I'd like to know more about why.

Yes, definitely.

I think it's great that the mods are taking more notice of the forums, and putting a feature of them on the main page. Usually, it's like forum posters and staffers are completely separate entities (I see mods posting more on NeoGAF than here).
