Where do Babies Come From? will be known as The Rub Rabbits!

SEGA ANNOUNCES THE RUB RABBITS!

Rub It! Love It! Rabbit!

SAN FRANCISCO (November 10, 2005) – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced that they will publish The Rub Rabbits!™ exclusively for the Nintendo DS™ system. Developed by SONIC TEAM, the creators of Feel the Magic™, The Rub Rabbits! delivers an all new "rub comedy" adventure offering innovative gameplay, quirky original music, stylized art, and many new modes and features.

The Rub Rabbits! leverages the unique touch-screen and voice-recognition interface on the DS hardware by challenging gamers to switch from tapping and rubbing to screaming and blowing as a means of controlling character actions. Four brand new modes have also been added, including the Hullabaloo Mode, in which you and a friend get finger-tied in rounds of "Twister," and the Connect Mode, in which you can play any of six multiplayer games with up to four friends. You can also play in a time attack of previously cleared chapters in Attack Mode.

"The Rub Rabbits! delivers a refreshing experience for DS fans featuring customized gameplay that takes gamers to a whole new level of creativity," said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "Touching is good, and SEGA once again has created a game that maximizes the technological functionality of the Nintendo DS."

Getting the girl is never easy, especially when competing against 12 other rivals. Players will battle rivals and win the affection of the game's love interest, and that's just the beginning. The Rub Rabbits! offers over 35 chapters in Story Mode, in addition to double the content in the newly expanded Memories Mode, which tests players' skills at clearing all stages for added bonuses; and Maniac Mode, which is packed with character customization options.

The Rub Rabbits! is hopping into retailers in February 2006.

Key Product Features:

  • Innovative gameplay. Hold the DS sideways, upside down, or hold it with a friend for co-op and battle play.

  • An all-new "rub comedy" adventure. Double the content with over 35 Chapters in the Story Mode alone.

  • Seven different gameplay modes. In addition to Story, Memories and Maniac Modes, four brand new modes - Attack, Hullabaloo, "Baby Making" and Connect Modes - will keep players entertained and interacting for a long time!

  • All new original music, art, and characters. Brand new customization modes allow you to unlock songs and sounds to make your own original music, and customize your girl's hair, dress, and shoes in Maniac Mode.

  • Multiplayer Wireless function. Compete in six different multiplayer contests with up to four players.

What the hell? Rub rabbit?? What's wrong with you Sega?

    KirbySStarNovember 10, 2005

    They totally chickened out.

And I thought the stateside name of the first game was bad...

SEGA Executive: "If we go into the U.S. with "Where do Babies Come from?" it might actually sell, and we wouldn't want that to happen. So I want you to come up with two possible renames."
Rookie Employee: "I'm thinking "Rub my Jub Jubs" and "The Little Playboy Rabbit that could."
SEGA Executives "Brilliant! "The Rub Rabbits!""
Rookie Emplyee: "No, sir, I think my ideas are - "
SEGA Executive: "Remember, the aim is NOT to sell."

I don't even get how they got this name? Which is why I'm inclined Kirby is right.

The Rub Rabbits are a group of characters in the game. It wasn't made up out of the blue.

Hey now guys...just be happy they are releasing it stateside at all.

I don't think the game would sell well to conservative people who would think it was a sex education game.

I could swear there was a sex education video with that name. A legal thing? So maybe it's like how Capcom couldn't use the original "Biohazard" title for the Resident Evil games here in North America.

At least it's just the title they're chopping up. Right?

I love the name. It's funny as hell. I hope it comes in an embrassingly bright pastel box with big lettering. I'd be showing it off proudly. People from far and wide would say, "Woah! That dude just bought Rub Rabbits, it must be cool! And the next thing you know, you'll be watching Tedi Bruschi of the New England Patriots shilling for it because that's just how manly a game it is. Wow, that made no sense.

    "Rub my Jub Jubs"

    Priceless.

Couldn't they have called this Feel the Magic 2 and call it a day? Its still the basic wario-ware styled game right?

I wonder what Baby Making's all about... devil.gif

There was a sex-education book titled "Where do babies come from," which is probably why a name change is necessary... That sex-education book was pretty good though...

The real problem with this game has nothing to do with the name. Feel the Magic was stylish and a pretty decent game, but not decent enough to warrant a sequel without big improvements in my opinion...unless they've changed the game design (doesn't look like it from the screens I've seen) or come up with much better mini-games this time around, I don't think this will be worth buying - unless you've never played either game.

I always liked Once Upon a Potty For Girls, of course.
