AM2's first entry on the GameCube is finally here at E3 for us to try. Full impressions here.
AM2's Beach Spikers, a 2-on-2 arcade-style beach volleyball game, has been ported over solidly from it's arcade roots.
Graphically, the game is rather well-done. The character models are all rather high on detail and very polished. Animations are also well done, as they set up, dive, and spike the ball realistically and fluidly. AM2 has even gone to the extent of creating celebration animations after each point. In fact, as the game goes on, the players seem to become increasingly affectionate to each other. This is both titillating and frightening.
The controls are perfect, as is usual for Sega's Virtua Sports (Tennis, etc.) series. Two buttons are all you need to play this game, and a good sense of timing as it is crucial for setting up power shots.
Overall, the game feels like it could be a lot of fun if this is your type of game. Definitely one to look out for, for people looking for a fun game to just romp around with a few friends.
