2016: 3DS Role Playing Domination

If it's the last year for the handheld, it's going out with a bang.

With the announcement of Yo-Kai Watch’s release date in North America last week, the lineup for the rest of the year in the territory is one Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon away from being complete. But over the last few months, there’s been a lot of titles that have been confirmed for 2016 release in North America that are going to take up a lot of time next year.

As the dominant platform by about a country mile in Japan, the 3DS is going to attract a lot of high quality Japanese-developed RPGs. But 2016 may be the best twelve months for Nintendo RPG fans since the 1994-1995 time that gave Super Nintendo owners Earthbound, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3/6. That’s not a comparison to be thrown lightly, but this lineup warrants it.

Although the 2016 Game of the Year has already been determined, let's take a look at the games that will (hopefully) fill in most of the rest of the list and hopefully determine a plan for playing all of them.
