Animal Crossing 3D

by Pedro Hernandez - June 6, 2011, 1:04 pm EDT

Can a change in dimension inspire a revolution in the Animal Crossing franchise?

Last year, Nintendo announced that the 3DS will feature its own Animal Crossing game. At the time, though, the game only shown through very brief videos and screenshots. Not a lot has been said since, but the social and collecting focused gameplay looks to remain intact in this 3D edition, along with the rotating world look first seen in Animal Crossing: Wild World for the DS. What we do know is that the graphics have been updated. The character models are detailed and larger, opting out of the series's cute and small style. It was also confirmed by Nintendo that players will be able to become the mayor of their respective towns with the aid of their animal denizens.

With a year being passed since the game was announced, there's a good chance that Nintendo will have the game playable for the first time. Some details to be expected are the expanded online modes, connectivity features and any 3DS exclusive features, such as StreetPass.

I have literally been waiting for this game since Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. The Paper Mario games are my favorite games ever. Nothing else is better to me.
