Raine is Genis’s older sister, also an elf. She often plays the role of mother-figure, being one of the oldest characters and also one of the wisest. Before beginning the journey, she taught Lloyd, Genis, and Colette at Iselia’s school, so the young ones feel a deep-seated respect her. That is, until the journey leads them into the ruins, when Raine’s love of archaeology plunges her into mania. These scenes are always hilarious, as the other characters look on with puzzled faces while Raine goes googly-eyed at the sight of ancient scripts and long-lost magitechnology.
She is the undisputed master healer of the group, a skill that works into the story as well as in combat. Raine does learn a few light-based attack spells, but her primary job is to keep everyone on the team in good health. Like Genis, she is a poor fighter and must be protected in order to be effective. No other character can even come close to her healing abilities, so Raine will likely be in the party during any tough area or boss battle.
