Jonathan Metts:
These can be at least as large as 5-on-1 and yes, each enemy gets to attack you in turn. You can use some moves that attack all of the horse at once.

Horde encounters AND sky battles? Shieeet... This is too much for me to handle

6:57
Jonathan Metts:
Haunter can also participate, since has Levitate ability. Mechanics of Sky Battles appear to be the same as normal, just look cool and restrict which Pokemon can be used.

Working on a method to transfer your old Pokemon but cannot say how yet. 3DS and DS can't directly communicate.
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:01 Jonathan Metts

7:02
Jonathan Metts:
Can't comment on DLC plans. That was one of the top three questions he was hoping to not hear today.
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:02 Jonathan Metts

7:04
Jonathan Metts:
Fairy being introduced to counteract Dragon OP without making that type weaker. Didn't comment on Fairy weaknesses or how this will be explained in story.

Jonathan Metts:
Cannot answer how many new Pokemon will be added.

Jonathan Metts:
"Why did you base the new region on France? (Eiffel Tower and other visual elements) Masuda says there is a theme of beauty, and France is known for that. Wasn't actually supposed to talk about that yet!
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:06 Jonathan Metts

7:08
Jonathan Metts:
Blue/Red on VC? We don't like idea of putting handheld Pokemon games on a console because your collection is stuck there. (Didn't address 3DS VC -- possibly didn't understand question.)
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:08 Jonathan Metts

7:09
Jonathan Metts:
Question about tweaks or transparency for EVs/IVs. Masuda didn't expect to hear about those today! They are working on making it easier for players to understand and use these hidden values.
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:09 Jonathan Metts

7:11
Jonathan Metts:
Variety of options to customize your character (can be male or female) that will be shown to players you meet over wireless/Internet.
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:11 Jonathan Metts

7:13
Jonathan Metts:
Alex Culafi from NWR asked why X and Y now have eight-way movement. Masuda compliments his observation! Says we felt the grid movement would make it easier for players to get around. However, there is more free movement when using roller skates.
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:13 Jonathan Metts

7:15
Jonathan Metts:
This time, music is streaming in during the game. Therefore, the feel is very different in X and Y. On 3DS, the music doesn't have to be changed between their computers and the game.
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:15 Jonathan Metts

7:17
Jonathan Metts:
Justin from NWR asks about how MewTwo will change forms and whether this might appear in the new Smash Bros. Long pause and awkward laughter from the stage...
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:17 Jonathan Metts

7:19
Jonathan Metts:
They say we must be talking about the new monster seen earlier, but can't talk about that yet! As for Smash, we always discuss which characters will appear with Sakurai. He chimes in from the audience: "We're thinking about it!"

Jonathan Metts:
Question about a Team Rocket kind of villain. They say trying to do something different this game -- no details.

7:21
Jonathan Metts:
Friends in the game are same as your system list of Friend Codes, so you may want to register some people in advance.
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:21 Jonathan Metts

7:22
Jonathan Metts:
Depending on the location, you can swing on vines, roller skate, or even ride on large Pokemon.

7:23
Jonathan Metts:
Miyamoto already snuck out of here. We saw Iwata leaving E3 well before this round table even began.

7:24
Jonathan Metts:
You can set which song to hear when battling online.

Jonathan Metts:
What are special benefits of riding various Pokemon? How does this feature differ from riding a bike?
Tuesday June 11, 2013 7:25 Jonathan Metts

7:26
Jonathan Metts:
Ryhorn can cross over rocky paths that a bike couldn't. It can also bust up the rocks in your way.

Talkback

Emily13243June 13, 2013

is this game going to be for the 3DS only or for 3DS and DS lite?

OblivionJune 13, 2013

3DS only. You honestly think a DS could handle that?
