Nintendo Media Summit on Wednesday

What will be at this event? Well, we're as clueless as you, but apparently it will be "exciting and no doubt Nintendo have some interesting things to show off," according to the Official Nintendo Magazine UK, who has an idea of what is happening and will be attending the London event on Thursday.

Will there be boatloads of "OMGZ MEGATONS?!?"? Probably not, but there will be some surprises (I hope) that will (hopefully) bring smiles to all of our (hopeful) faces (I hope). I mean, they can't possibly put off Sin and Punishment 2 anymore, can they? And we're bound to find something out about Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M, right?

Maybe Reggie will look at us all and say "Zangeki no Americans-ever-legit-playing-it, suckas!" Of course, that'll be after The Last Story and Xenoblade get confirmed for a North American release. And Denis Dyack comes out alongside the reborn ashes of Factor 5 and the two announce Eternal Darkness 2 and a new Rogue Squadron. And then we're told Treasure is making a new Star Fox game, and HAL Labs is working on Kirby Wii, and Intelligent Systems is making Kid Icarus, and there will be a Wario Land: Shake It 2, and Nintendo is teaming up with Square Enix for Super Mario RPG 2: The Revenge of the Smithy Gang, and….and…

Or maybe it'll just be Wii Music 2 and a confirmation that Zelda Wii isn't coming out until 2011.

Regardless, join the conversation in our forums, either in this thread or in the talkback thread for this post.

a confirmation that Zelda Wii isn't coming out until 2011.

This.

By the time they start talking I will be on my way to work... raaaage, not really. When I get back home, the only thing I want to see is Zelda news all over the interwebs.

I'm setting my expectation at Reggie lighting a cigar with a wad of $100 bills as the entire summit.

This way, I'm not disappointed no matter what comes out of this.

StratosFebruary 22, 2010

I'm fully on board the hype train and am expecting to see my expectations dashed into a million tiny pieces.

Expected (Joke) Headlines:

Wii Zelda Nowhere to be Seen
Iwata says it will come out "When it's ready."

Metroid: Other M to Feature Horrible, Horrible Voice Acting
Samus will be played by Fran Drescher

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Will Feature Yoshi
But we already knew that

Bioshock Coming to Wii
...in the form of a "guided first-person experience."

LOL

ALL ABOARD!!!! Next stop...... disappointment. Choo Choo!!

I'm keeping my expectations low. What I expect to see is some release dates (and vague at that) and some media footage and screens.

Zelda confirmed for release on Dec 19, 2012

LOL

I'm in the camp of low expectations as well, but I do believe that we can kiss any hope of Sin & Punishment 2 away if it doesn't get mentioned here.

I, for one, am looking forward to getting into the Pikmin 3 multiplayer beta.

Neal I'm pretty sure that Sin & Punishment 2 is coming out this year. I recall that the game has been given a go ahead for North America release. In a recent Nintendo Power there was a preview for the game. So please check your facts before saying such things that you did.

Actually, Maxi, we were all surprised when it didn't show up on NoA's first-quarter lineup. I think Neal's right--if the game doesn't show up at the media summit, I'll really be wondering if they scrapped it or not.

Could it not being on the first quarter release list have anything to do with not being released in the first quarter. I think that is a possiblity.
Nintendo Power said that is is coming out later in the year.
So I am going to believe them.

Funny, I read that issue of Nintendo Power and I still stand by my comment. So I DID check my facts. Also, Nintendo Power reviewed Cave Story two issues ago, and that's still not out. I believe they pegged it for a 2009 release, too. That didn't happen.

Sin & Punishment 2 came out in October in Japan, and it was originally pegged for a Q1 2010 release at E3. Reggie reiterated that in October or November in some comment about how "Nintendo was going to back it hardcore, yo." I'm still waiting.

Plus, Nintendo of America has nixed a few games this generation, including Disaster and Fatal Fram 4. Granted those games didn't get a full section at an E3 (I'm pretty sure. Longtime goers correct me if I'm wrong), but still. NoA makes their own decisions, and it might not be financially sound to release S&P 2.

S&P2 is awfully niche. It would be a crime not to localize it, but I can definately see NoA saying "you know, we're not gonna make much scrilla on this one. Let's can it." Then they toss it in a corner with Fatal Frame 4 and Disaster.

Both of those games WERE pegged for a North American release. Neither one happened.

Just because something hasn't happened doesn't mean it is never going to happen.

We agree to disagree.

I hope that S&P 2 gets mentioned and my fears go away, but until then...courage.

This would be an excellent time to reveal whatever Retro has been working on for the past three years.

Oh damn! I forgot about that when I made my speculative image.

I've just lost hope at this point, honestly.

I'm personally hoping for a Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel announcement...and more info on Pikmin 3.

KDR_11kFebruary 25, 2010

When is the European summit happening? I mean mostly the time, I know it's today.
