9-Player Wii U Game Runbow Looks Like Sweet, Magnificent Nonsense

Race against friends in this challenging, party platforming game focused on color-changing zaniness.

13AM Games' upcoming Wii U eShop game Runbow is a ridiculous nine-player multiplayer game. Yes, that's right: nine players. It's a party platforming game where the background color dictates what platforms are usable. The colors can be changed on the GamePad by a player referred to as the ColorMaster.

Runbow features seven different modes, including a 30-minute hardcore platforming challenge called the Bowhemoth. It also has a really bouncy energy to it, thanks to the vibrant art style and upbeat, fast-paced music.

Check out the trailer below for the latest footage of Runbow, which is due out later this year. The game will be at GDC and PAX East, so if you're coming to PAX East, find the NWR folk there and we can try playing this crazy game together.

Runbow looks so crazy, fun, and like total madness. I love how it's looking!

I think I know like, two times a year when this will actually be played with 9 players. Still looks intriguing, though.

Only 9 players?

I love the concept of the colors switching and deleting platforms...that is brilliantly simple.

Wonder if it supports the GC adapter from Smash. 4 GC, 4 Wiimotes + Pad = 9

If they support the GCN Adapter, then it'd be 4 GC + 7 Wii Remotes + Pad for 12.

I wonder if that could be upped by allowing 3DS systems to connect and act as controllers.

What about holding a Wii remote side-ways for one player, and having a classic controller plugged in for a second player.

Only 9 players? Psh-shaw!
