Roy and Ryu amiibo confirmed?

All of the DLC characters will get Amiibo eventually.

the best part is the audio files that someone pulled from the patch that have Kirby's voice bits for "PK Freeze!" and "Hadoken!"

While I'm no huge fan of the Street Fighter franchise, it pleases me greatly to see Ryu in the game.

Roy, not so much.

Does this suggest all the dlc is coming out tomorrow instead of a staggered release?

I remember RFN's theory of a decided list that was already in place,  and the characters with the most votes on that list would be chosen. I'll take that one step further, there was no list. Nintendo already knew who they were putting in next. Although I'm sure these characters got a ton of votes, especially Roy, It's hard for me to believe that Ryu was the second or first popular pick by fans.  I don't care much for street fighter, and the only other fire emblem character I wanted was chrom. That being said, I'd be curious to see the actual poll numbers. The reason I think Ryu was being made before polls were even open, is because Nintendo would have needed the rights before they even started creating that character, and with Capcom being stupid these days, I don't think that was easy to do, and it probably took time.

I would have preferred to hear about this for the first time with a trailer during tomorrow's Nintendo Direct. I'm still excited though. I love getting new characters and stages. Ryu's stage looks super fun.

UGH. We have yet another Fire Emblem swordsman, and quite possibly the most boring and unmemorable 3rd party character out there that's not Master Chief? What a waste. If we HAD to have another swordsman, why Roy? Why not Lyndis?

DLC characters are aimed at the more hardcore fans, who for Smash happen to generally be Melee fans.  They've been asking for Roy to return for over 7 years now so it's not hard to see why Sakurai and Nintendo are just following the money.

I always liked Roy more than Marth. I don't think I like Roy more than Lucina though.

I see no problem with more FE characters...

I am glad Fire Emblem is getting more representation, while Roy certainly wouldn't be my first choice, he would have been very easy to implement considering he is both a veteran and a clone so most of the work had already been done. There is no point crying over Roy unless you really wanted wolf.

With Roy returning Wolf is coming back as well.  The only argument left people could use to say Wolf wouldn't return is having 3 characters similar to each other is too much, despite the fact Wolf is 95% unique anyway.  With Fire Emblem having 3 characters now that are much closer to each other then the Star Fox trio, there shouldn't be any more questions in anyone's mind.

Wolf comes back after the Ice Climbers do.

So you think the Ice Climbers reboot comes out before Star Fox Wii U does?

Voting doesn't end until October. These leaked characters are likely planned up until ones that are voted on would be included (and I'm braced for only one or two ballot voted characters).

December is the earliest I would expect to see a ballot inclusion in the game given how long it took them to add Mewtwo and Lucas.

E3 is a few days away...

It's nice to see Roy back and having Ryu be in Smash Bros. is a delightful idea. I don't know if I will ever buy the characters as Splatoon is taking most of my time, but these this DLC looks good.

I'm pretty sure I've never played Street Fighter in my life, but I'm really excited to see an actually new, original character instead of bringing back ones from previous iterations. Hopefully we get more of those.

Well, good news, JP! see, Ryu will play pretty straightforward. because he often gets cloned so much in his own games and the street fighter 2 manual ended up describing Ryu and Ken's fighting style as 'Shotokan Karate', often characters that are easy for beginners to handle in a fighting game that get cloned into variants are called 'shotos' for short.

Mario in his N64 and melee counterparts especially followed this template. Mario has a fireball (Hadoken~!), his super jump punch (Shoryuken!), and his mario tornado (Tatsumaki Sempuukayku!), not to mention a host of moves that serve a simplar purpose for the most part to what Ryu's moveset does in Street Fighter games.

While Ryu's Forward-B Focus Attack is a VERY different attack than say... Mario's reflective cape or his Fludd, expect Ryu to feel like... maybe a stiffer but more harder hitting and further reaching version of Mario.
