The sequel to last year's zombie title could be underway.

According to Nintendo Life's sources who are close to Sega, the sequel to House of the Dead: Overkill is in development. The original title was developed by London-based development house Headstrong Games, and they were pitching the sequel to Sega some months ago. As previously reported, the title could be a multi-platform one, appearing on the Wii as well as the PlayStation 3, using the PS Move controller.

Sega has yet to confirm or deny this rumor.

I hope this turns out to be true. I was pleasantly surprised by the first one. I would probably get it for the PS3, but I don't have the whole Move setup.

Actually, someone from the Nintendo NWR Newscast revealed this months ago (around E3).  I don't recall the podcast episode or person (thinking it might have been Neal).

If this happens, the game should either be a $20-30 title or contain a lot more stages. The first game was essentially a shallow arcade game being sold for full price, so I didn't buy it until it was heavily discounted (I believe I found it for $12), and it took my sister and me only two evenings to beat it.

We also ran into three times when the game just stalled and wouldn't progress, so I hope any new one would have better bug testing.

Yeah, I agree. I have a hard time justifying a $50 light gun game because they're so short and I paid full price for Overkill. To be honest, I have a hard time justifying paying full price for any short game (unless it's like the most amazing game ever) because I'm cheap.

Overkill, while good and finally embracing the series cheesiness, was unpolished so I hope whoever is developing this (assuming a sequel is in the works) hammers out the kinks.

Overkill wasn't a great entry to the series. It lacked the dynamic, branching pathways that have always made the HotD series so engrossing. Because of that it lacked a lot of re-playability. Furthermore, the game had massive problems with lag, especially in the earlier stages.

I really like the first game, so I am looking forward to seeing the sequel. The first game was so funny that I felt sick when I laughed at the content, but it was still funny none the less.

I just hope they ship the game sans the progress-breaking glitches that prevented 100% completion like in the first game.
