Yet another ridiculous technical problem claims much of the show, but you still get a preview of our most anticipated fall games for Wii and DS.

I don't want to talk about it.

The bad news is that we recorded awesome New Business, DLC Mondays, and Listener Mail segments that are both lost to the void. On the bright side, the past couple of episodes have been under an hour! At least some of our really long-time listeners may appreciate that.

As we continue to learn some hard lessons about just exactly what can go wrong with producing a podcast, please enjoy this abbreviated episode in which we nevertheless manage to talk about twelve hot new games coming later this year.

This was to be our first week of regular, weekly Listener Mail segments. They'll be shorter but more consistent, and in order to pull that off, we need your feedback, comments, and questions. What did we leave off our fall preview? What do you think of Nintendo's media summit announcements? Can you teach us to quit losing audio files? Please write to us. You know the address.

wat wat?

Rumor has it that Bloodworth stopped listening to our podcasts because they're "too long".

We've been stricken with the Bloodworth Curse!

GoldenPhoenixOctober 07, 2008

I heard Greg's bird has been secretly sabotaging things.

Indeed, Chocobos can be quite unruly.

AVOctober 07, 2008

It's a conspiracy. Somebody doesn't want you to talk.....

The intro was weird, hearing Crimm being serious is unnerving. Also, I learned that I play Geometry Wars better when I'm listening to the podcast.

Korg DS FTW!!  That's what I'm looking forward to on the Nintendo front.

shammackOctober 07, 2008

I liked the sadly ironic "hope you enjoyed this extra-long podcast!" bit at the end.

Downloading it as we speak! Could someone please help me with something though. I'm kinda having trouble finding where I submit questions for the mailbag for the podcast to. .  D:

This was funny, I was all prepared to talk about it, but when I raised it I realized I really didn't have much to say.  I was like, "Yeah, uhh...it's a synthesizer.  You can synthesize things with it"

There's an address you can use directly, but I'm not going to type it out here (we try to minimize spam from bots).  So for now, you can use the form here by changing the drop-list to Radio Free Nintendo:

https://www.nintendoworldreport.com/mailstaff.cfm?staffid=65

We say the address on the show all the time, but it got cut off on this episode.

You should have referred to this video and what this musician will now be able to do.  He basically has two Game Boy Advance's duct taped together, its pretty impressive.  Its an interview Veronica Belmont did a while back.

Did I hear Jonny degrade one of my favorite voice actors, Cam Clarke? Shame on Jonny. Next he'll probably degrade my favorite voice actor Jim Cummings

Great show guys, I am a flash animater (still working on my Skills) and after re-watching episode 99 and 103 (my personal favrites for a reson  :P ), I decide to make you a RFN tribute gif. I hope you view it, and I hope you like it, give me your feed back!

Also, to bad about losing half, I hate it when macs do that...

GoldenPhoenixOctober 08, 2008

This is more of a curiosity question but could you technically have the full show without Jame's audio (maybe he can dub in his parts lol)?

"Home of the man beam" is kinda like "Burger King: Home of the Whopper" except that slogan is about a big chunk of hot meat between two buns.

I'm so, so sorry

In my deffense, those were THEIR words, not mine. I belive it was creg who said "RFN, home of the man beam"

glad you like it ;p

Also, if you have any request for a gif, RFN related or ect (such as a avitor) let me know!

SundoulosOctober 09, 2008

I enjoyed the podcast, good sirs, as usual...even if it was a shorter one.

Hopefully, the techincal gremlins won't perform a hat trick this week.

Greg is so ashamed of you right now! Creg is his arch nemesis.

James considered that route but decided it would take forever to do it, and the result would sound terrible anyway.

Point: This episode was the hat trick.  First it was Bonnie's audio, then it was Evan's, finally mine.

I mean I honestly felt like shit after the first two weeks, but the third one killed me.

ShyGuyOctober 10, 2008

118 is gonna be great, I can feel it!

SmakianOctober 10, 2008

Considering that we got a new business with no feature, and then a feature with no new business, I kinda feel like I just got one good, solid episode with a long-ass intermission in the middle.

Crimm, just curious, how much editing is involved with these? And what gets cut out of the average episode?  :P

Crimm is extremely discriminatory against Greg's bird who always gets cut besides one cameo. It is quite side.

Are you kidding?!  The bird gets cranked up!

I'd say I cut about 10 minutes for every hour of final product (most of it we never intended you to hear).  It takes about 2 and a half hours for every hour of podcast.  That includes the post-production after editing.

Snipper64October 11, 2008

Nice to see the forums here go off topic as the podcast ;p

I'm not complaining, I love it...

Seeing as podcasts are two hours long, it takes at least 5 hours to edit?  Dang, I'd love to cut that down James.

broodwarsOctober 12, 2008

So...does that mean since you guys lost the Reader Mail for the past 3 (?) weeks, does that mean you'll re-address them in a future show?  I had a couple questions in that bag I'd still like answered.

Also, do you guys have some wierd encryption process or something in the coding for this site?  For some strange reason, my Internet Provider is blocking the site so I can only access it when my laptop's using a different Wi-Fi hotspot.

SchadenfreudeOctober 12, 2008

Any estimated time frame James?

Nothin.  I'm not sure.

vuduOctober 14, 2008

I can't believe none of you had the decency to hype Little King's Story.  Shame on all of you!!

Also, now that I'm finally caught up on RFN (been behind since around episode 90) can I start asking when the next episode's going to come out?

Hey Crimm, any chance you're going to get episode 118 out before Friday?  ;)

I forgot all about that game, another promising title coming soon.

I'm sure he'll have it done by Friday. The real question is "Which Friday?"

The scope of the feature was games coming out during the rest of 2008, whereas Little King's Story is currently slotted for a January 2009 release I believe. I did end up cheating with Rhythm Heaven because we found out on the day of recording that it had been shifted back into early 2009 in North America, but other than that we stuck to this calendar year. If we had dipped into early '09 stuff there are many games that would have been worth mentioning, because it's already shaping up to be a pretty amazing year for Wii.

We recorded late last week, so it's taking me a while.  On top of that we recorded EARLY this week.

I've got two podcasts sitting around to finish editing. Ew

kraken613October 16, 2008

Just coming to see whats up with the podcast we haven't had a real episode in weeks! I usally just get them through the feed but hadn't seen one in awhile...

GoldenPhoenixOctober 16, 2008

The podcasts are dead. Greg has went on strike.

There are two long episodes in the editing process right now.  Expect one Friday or Saturday and another Monday or Tuesday (potentially delayed to give the previous episode some "space").

Nah, I think we can stand to have two episodes within a few days, right gang?

Btw, James has had a terrible week at his job, hence the slow edit for 118.  Let's all cut him some slack.

A new Radio Trivia is around the corner. Hopefully that will help pass the time.

DAaaMan64October 17, 2008

yay!

CalibanOctober 17, 2008

SmakianOctober 17, 2008

Here's hopin one gets up before I leave on Sunday, got a 4-5 day drive from seattle to austin and it'd sure be nice to have one to listen to along the way. Still, sure they'll be just as good to listen to after I arrive.

ShyGuyOctober 17, 2008

Hey Crimm, what's your day job if you don't mind me asking?

SundoulosOctober 17, 2008

Sorry to hear about your lousy week, Crimm.  Thanks for all the hard work.  It's appreciated!

Programming Analyst for a company (due to contractual reasons) I cannot name.  I've been on App support the last few weeks but this week was "special."

I'm on the edit right now.  I don't mind you guys asking, keeps me going.

kraken613October 18, 2008

Ok ill ask again to keep you going! Sunday now?

Techincially, yes.
It will be Sunday eastern time.  However, it's still going to be before I go to bed tonight.

Has anyone from the podcast ever posted a picture of themself? I'm curious how far off my mental images are.

Lindy looks like Lex Luthor.

Johnny supposed looks like some hot stud or something based on how he describes himself.

Greg is missing all of his teeth and doesn't take baths so he is really greasy looking. He is constantly sipping his tea while on the podcast.

James has a wormhead according to his previous avatar that he sadly removed to protect his identity.

LOL, when have I described myself at all?  Mike Sklens gave me the nickname "sexies man" based on my voice, back when I used to host (live) radio trivia.  There are plenty of pictures of me on the site.  Look for the Koji Igarashi interview from this year's E3, or at the images of the original Nintendo DS.  I think I'm in the PGC E3 2002 DVD for about five seconds.
