Mario Tennis: Power Tour

by Ben Kosmina - May 17, 2005, 2:05 pm EDT

Pocket tennis? Sure, why not?

Mario Tennis Advance is the sequel to Mario Tennis for Game Boy Color. As in the previous game, players will be able to build up and improve their character with the goal of becoming the ultimate champion of the Royal Tennis Academy. It's most likely that you'll also be able to transfer your powered-up character over to Mario Power Tennis for play in 3D (as this has been the case for all games in the Camelot Nintendo Sports series).

In addition to the deep story mode where gamers play as their own character, players can also choose from a variety of different modes for free play. Mario, Peach, Waluigi and Donkey Kong are just a sample of the extra playable characters, with the special power shots from Mario Power Tennis making a return. As with Mario Golf Advance, the graphics are vivid, and the characters are very detailed. There appear to be Power Shot special effect animations for whenever a character hits the ball perfectly.
