Sonic returns in his most colorful adventure yet.

Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010:

In addition to Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, Sonic will also be starring in a Wii and DS-exclusive title called Sonic Colors. The story behind Sonic Colors is that Dr. Eggman has built a great theme park orbiting around Sonic’s home planet; however, he has also kidnapped an alien race called the Wisps in order to harvest their energy and unleash a devious plan.

Electronic Entertainment Expo 2010:

Based on recently released screens and trailers, Sonic Colors looks to play similarly to the daytime stages in Sonic Unleashed, including the blend of 2D and 3D gameplay capitalized by that title.

Sonic will be aided by the colorful Wisps, and each Wisp has a different color power. Sonic is able to absorb these powers and unleash them as he runs through the theme park stages. For example, the Yellow Drill allows Sonic to drill through the stages. The Cyan Laser gives Sonic the ability to run through the stage as a laser. When all of these powers are combined, Sonic’s boost gauge fills up quickly. Both the Wii and DS version will have their own exclusive Wisp.

Sonic Colors is set to be released on both the Wii and DS this holiday season.

Just want to make a correction. Dr.Robotnik is the villan in this game. Not Eggman.

Anyway I look forward to this. From what I have seen this looks like a good entry into the Sonic series.

That's not what Sega's own site says: http://www.sega.com/games/sonic-colors/

Sega has been called Robotnick "Eggman" since Sonic Adventure. It's his official name now, and the press release for Sonic Colors addresses him as such.

It's always been his name in Japan and with Sonic Adventure Sega decided to go with the Japanese canon instead of the American one (also affects the location of the game: In America Sonic lived on the planet Mobius, in Japan he lives on Earth).
