Nintendo returns to air sports, this time at Wii Sports Resort’s Wuhu island.

Wuhu Island was popularized by many console games like Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus, but never has the island appeared on a handheld. That is, until PilotWings Resort was announced for the Nintendo 3DS.

In vein to the aerial activities in Wii Sports Resort, PilotWings Resort allows players to soar through the skies of Wuhu Island, whether it be in a hang glider, jet pack or airplane. Each of these three types of travel have their own unique controls, thus resulting in different experiences for each means of transport.

PilotWings Resort offers a wide range of activities to complete, as well as challenges such as competitive flights in order to obtain a high score. The game also has a more casual mode that allows players to explore Wuhu Island at their own leisurely pace.

Just like any other of Nintendo’s new 3DS games, Nintendo promises to take full advantage of its new handheld with PilotWings Resort. It remains to be seen whether or not PilotWings Resort is just the aerial activities from Wii Sports Resort ported to Nintendo’s new handheld, but Nintendo has promised a unique experience that cannot be found anywhere else. A release window has not been set as of yet.
