Stylus driven real-time strategy with wisecracking robots.

Tecmo and Vogster have teamed to bring the stylus only, real-time strategy game Robocalypse to the Nintendo DS for October, 2008. Tecmo claims a technological breakthrough for the game's DS release: Fifty A.I. driven units with advanced distributed path-finding. So put on your strategy helmet and break out the Sun Tzu for campaign mode.

The story, penned by SpongeBob writer Jay Lender and Micah Wright, will feature robot armies equipped with over 20 unique weapons engaged in real-time strategic warfare. Tecmo promises the story-line will have plenty of humorous twists. Robocalypse will also feature an original soundtrack and advanced graphics that include 3D particle effects.

The first player campaign mode features 17 missions and an extensive plot surrounding the fate of the planet. The game also includes local, multi-card wireless play for two to four player co-op and head-to-head warring that includes additional maps and the ability to track your progress.

Look for it on store shelves this fall.

And that adds the second thing I thought of when seeing the game: Z: Steel Soldiers.
