MONTREAL & LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2005-- Coding Technologies, the leader in audio compression for Internet, Mobile, and Broadcast, announced today that the upcoming Splinter Cell 3 soundtrack DVD-Audio release will be the first to include 5.1 multichannel and stereo tracks in the aacPlus format. Provided according to the DVD-Audio Compressed Audio zone specification, listeners can copy these songs directly to their computers, digital media adapters, and mobile phones without the need of ripping. So this DVD-A soundtrack will have lossless audio, right? This is just an attempt to sidestep the restrictions of the DVD format and placate the consumer with proprietary 'choice,' then? I think I'll stick with the CD version. I don't "fear" the labels when I rip my legitimately purchased CDs. Actually, I won't buy either. :¬\

You might not be able to rip them without first violating the DMCA by using a marker or duct tape. User-protected CDs.

you can listen to aac+ audio on the newest version of winamp, happyhardcore.com radio has a AAC+ mp4 32k stream and it sounds delious
48 Kbps is like 160-192k mp3 quality...which well isnt cd quality

I would of atleast excpected footage of the game or something on the dvd...just having audio seems a bit pointless, using the dvd gimmick.
but then again only sound tracks I have are the zelda ones and there still wrapped.

Personally, I've never seen a copy-protected CD. Funnily enough I think they're more common in Europe and especially Japan. They'll step all over our rights here and battle us to the end in court, but they can't be bothered to change the manufacture of their discs. But there is the FBI warning on packaging now. I'm sure that's working.
