The only thing rushing to get stars in this joint are the Luigi cookies.

It's James' last episode before 500, so he was eager to spend some time with his friends on the show. Knowing this, Jon made himself scarce. Instead, we are joined on New Business by Karen, who joined Guillaume at the annual Nintendo of Canada holiday games preview. Staged at a - in no way symbolic - wax museum, they had the chance to play the already-available demo for Pokemon Sun and Moon, Mario Party Star Rush, Super Mario Maker for 3DS, and nihilism. The last one isn't a game; it's just the unavoidable sense of nothingness emanating from that lineup. Karen is a fan of LEGO City Undercover, and gives some thoughts to supplement last week's RetroActive. Her perspective really helps us BUILD on previous thoughts. Greg also has additional thoughts on LEGO City Undercover, as well as thoughts on Ghouls'n Ghosts and Dragon Quest VII. James wraps up New Business with updated impressions of Corpse Party before detailing Avenging Spirits, a pre-Geist game where you play as a ghost who possesses and kills lots of people.

After the break, we mark the return of Listener Mail! This week we review your Switch predictions, fantasize about a Bayonetta cartoon, map DS games to a modern touch screen, and conceive of plastic doodads to attach to the side of Switch. You can send us your Switch mock-ups via our inbox.

Also, feel free to send us your "RFN Episode RetroActives." We tease this terrible idea at the end of the show, but with the impending crush of Episode 500 we would love to hear your review of some RFN Classics. Just please don't write about the disaster that is 103. Or the response of 104. Or the unintended consequences that is 105. The die is cast for this mistake, so make it with us!

Talkback

First of all, thank you for keeping it classy, Karen. I feel that you're not alone in being indifferent to pokemon on this podcast. outside of the recent lindemann excursion and James' childhood minglings with his sister, there just isn't a lot of excitement around pokemon between the various hosts and guest hosts RFN has had over the years. I feel you guys should ask Donald or Alex Culafi to guest star for a proper Pokemon Sun/Moon blowout on episode 501 if you want to have a discussion that would pander to the sensibilities of the section of the RFN fanbase that are truly mired in the Pokemon Minutia.

As for the cartoon thing, Sonic boom is actually hilarious. Sonic is portrayed as this sort of bored sociopath, Tails is strangely the straight-man, Knuckles is treated as a full on special needs case, Amy Rose is an empowered female character that still manages to be a little overly girly at times for no other reason than to play up her girl power, and Sticks the Badger is Alex Jones' fursona. That's actually one of the few things that may glisten every now and then when you shine a flash light on the septic tank that is Rise of Lyric... but eve if you try to salvage that out from the muck, attached to it you'll find "RINGS! BOUNCE PAD! IT'S LIKE THESE ROADS WERE BUILT FOR ME! LOVE ME SOME RINGS! GOTTA GET THEM RINGS! WHOO, BOUNCE PAD!"

I would actually love a Street Fighter cartoon provided that Capcom does NOT Hand it off to Man of Action, but instead enlists Udon comics, who will work VERY closely with DHX Media to make what is in essence a last Airbender style North Americanime that is primarily based around Gouken teaching Ryu and Ken ansatsuken... which I suppose someone made a fan movie about that, but I had to work Ryu in somehow, and that's the only part of his backstory that's interesting at all. I'd rather get a Killer Bee and the Bison dolls show, but unfortunately, Cammy wasn't in Super Smash Bros, now was she?

Lindemann is going to host 499? Yes! After 393 episodes of darkness, Highlord Lindemann shall retake his regal diadem! Jon, do everything you can to make this episode special. Or do nothing, if you think that will achieve the same effect.

Is it just me or did Greg seem really happy in this episode? A real pep in his step. I guess that's what playing Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts does for a man. :)

It was nice to hear from Karen. Did she ever eat the Luigi cookie? Maybe it was from last year! I assume she wasn't around for Listener Mail. I didn't hear her anyway. The Nintendo of Canada report was interesting. Some aspects of it could make for a good horror  movie with the right imagination. :p

And thanks to James for explaining the difference between touch screen types. On to 499! *cues ending music from episode 199*

I welcome the new age that dawns before us. It will be huge and beautiful.

>Lindemann wins hosting duties of RFN 499

>Trump wins presidential election

I'm not saying there's a correlation, but...
