This week on the NWR Newscast, Zach, Nathan and Neal talk all about Pokémon Black and White, the latest pocket monster hotness on the Nintendo DS. Also, we go over the announcements at GDC, including the Iwata keynote and all of the 3DS details.

As the 3DS launch gets nearer and nearer, continue to talk about the new handheld. Although Andy had claimed he wouldn't get the system at launch in a previous episode, he explains why he's backpedaled now.

Finally, we go over some listener mail. Thanks for your letters!

As always, you can email us at newscast@nintendoworldreport.com

Another reason used Pokemon games sell for a high price is that people like to "dumpster dive" and grab any legendaries/key items (TMs, Master Ball, etc.).

I also like that the music (which comes on four discs in Japan) has taken a step up-I think they've felt a little pressure from the music in the Mystery Dungeon games.

And the original G&S did have both Lugia and Ho-oh in both games. One was level 40, and one was level 70 and only in the post-game.

you guys didn't talk about a summer update that lets you record 3D VIDEO with 3DS.

TJ SpykeMarch 13, 2011

They didn't say when that feature would be added, just that at some point in the future it would be added. It could possibly be in the summer, but that wasn't confirmed.

Here is what I want from the Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary if it has a compilation similar to Super Mario Brothers All-Stars:

Normal Skyward Sword case with a holographic sheath that features Link's impressionist art style on the cover.

The original LoZ, Link to the Past, LoZ 2 and Link's Awakening redone in a on a bonus disc.

A music disc that contains all of the music from the series.

An artbook for each game in the series with a brief description from the developers.

Trading cards for the various Links, his allies and villians throughout the series.

All for $59.99

I wouldn't hold my breathe if I were you. First, they are not gonna redo any of the games (and are most likely not gonna include LA because that is a Game Boy game). If they included a music disc, it would probably be like the Mario one and not include all of the songs (which they probably couldn't do on 1 disc anyways considering that the soundtrack for Twilight Princess alone would take up about half the space of a CD).

Considering that Zelda is not a big of a franchise as Mario, I don't see Nintendo doing much more than that. They will probably take The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition and put that on a Wii disc, and a barebones music disc and artbook like with Mario, and ship that out for $30. They might not even do that much since OOT is being released as a retail 3DS game.

Having said that, I wish their would be a package more like the one you described. I just think it has very little chance of happening.

So Nathan doesn't mind being called Mufasa but what about Mohammed?

BTW, that Homefront deal is on Steam as well but usually retailers are cheaper and I think you can get Metro 2033 for 5€ these days. Plus who wants Homefront?

Seriously?

Actually, Homefront looks pretty interesting to me. I want to read some reviews first, but I am considering picking it up when it comes out this week.

Why does Nathan keep trying to shorten the podcast.  I could go for 3 hours of Zach rambling about Pokemon with musical interludes.  :P:

I'm always in favor of more rambling. Greg's awesome, so I don't want to inconvenience him by asking it of RFN, and since Nathan's the new guy he deserves to be tortured, or "hazed" if you will, and made to find a way to make some semblance of sense out of that kind of craziness.

Well, half the people who are called Mustafa as one of their names have Mohammed as the other...

I'd like to think we've made it pretty clear that his other name is Nathan.
