Is it any worse than stopping to talk about the Mario movie?
A brief interruption of the Direct announced that Nintendo is planning to show off more of their history.
After showing off a Mario ? block design on the roof, it was confirmed that a "museum" will be a part of a new Nintendo building in Kyoto, and is targeting a launch by the end of March 2024. According to Nintendo, it will contain "a wide variety of products from Nintendo's history".

The last Smash Ultimate amiibo comes with a bottle of aspirin and a plot novel from his home series. (Or it should.)

At least the "No Side Order" sign only had to be tapped once.
Two bits of outstanding DLC were discussed in today's Direct for two Switch megahits.
The Direct kicked off with the Splatoon 3 "Side Order" DLC, introducing a new character named "Acht" (the number 8 in German) and showing off some of the gameplay. Originally announced for a fall 2023 release, the second part of the Expansion Pass will now launch in spring 2024.

Sadly, Trombone Champ does not appear to include "Through the Fire and Flames".
One of the wildest PC party games is coming to Switch with a very rarely used control method included.
Four player rhythm game Trombone Champ - a rhythm game focused on the large woodwind - is one of the Direct's shadowdrops. As the game is focused on moving a mock trombone up and down the screen, it will support a motion option via the right Joy-Con's infrared camera.

OK, I want to see proof of anyone who had this on the bingo card in the Talkback.
A pair of adventure titles from the late 2000s are coming out of nowhere for a Switch rescue.
"Another Code: Recollection" is a Switch remaster of Another Code: Two Memories (or "Trace Memory" in North America) and Another Code R: A Journey into Lost Memories (never released in NA), the 2005 and 2009 adventure titles developed by the late developer Cing. Recollections will launch on January 19.

This is really going to jack up her Smash moveset.
The "untitled Peach game" is not only titled, it's also been dated.
Originally announced in June's direct, the Peach-starring game was shown today as "Princess Peach: Showtime" and will launch on March 22. In the game, Princess Peach can don various costumes including a patisserie (baker), detective, and swiordfighter in order to save areas from an evil gang.

The most beloved Mario RPG since the original is getting a 20th anniversary touch-up.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door HD was the "one more thing" of today's Nintendo Direct, announcing a 2024 release. The original title released in 2004 on the GameCube, and the remaster trailer did not make any announcements of additional content.

Here we go again!
As expected heading into Tokyo Game Show next week, Nintendo is getting a Direct ready.
The likely-final general Nintendo Direct of the year will air tomorrow at 10a.m. EDT / 7a.m. PDT / 1500 CEST / 2300 JST. It will run for 40 minutes.
According to the announcement, the focus will be on Switch software "releasing this winter".

The forthcoming release will collect all nine Picross e games that are now inaccessible after the closure of the 3DS eShop.
The next game in the Picross S series will be Picross S+, a collection of all nine Picross e games that were originally released on the 3DS eShop.
Due out in 2024, Picross S+ will contain the content from Picross e for an estimated price of $4.99 (and equivalent pricing). The other eight releases will be available as DLC for an estimated price of $4.99 each. This will be the first time Picross e9 will be available outside of Japan.

Mario Kart Tour is getting the caution flag.
In an announcement today of upcoming content, it was announced that the tour beginning on October 4 (the "Battle Tour") will be the final tour to add new racers, courses, or cart parts. The tour following (a Halloween-themed tour launching on the 18th) will be the first to run as a repeat.
