TV Tokyo intends to release the show in North American and European markets.

On Monday, TV Tokyo and Capcom held an exhibition of the new Viewtiful Joe anime, which is set to begin airing on October 2nd. TV Tokyo producer Susumu Matsuyama commented that since the original game has been highly praised overseas, they do want to release the program outside of Japan, centering on the North American and European markets which are already familiar with the franchise.

An original female character named Sprocket was also revealed at the event, and you can find pictures of her and a crazy man in a Viewtiful Joe costume over at Dengeki Online.

LMAO, that Viewtiful Joe costume the guy is wearing makes him look like the red power ranger. Anyway, that's pretty cool they are bringing the show over, I didn't even know they had a VJ show in Japan :\

Just looking at Sprocket's costume... I fear to think that 4Kids might get a hold of this... it'll get edited to hell.

Interesting, but i don't think it will last. Even though i like VJ i dunno how good a anime series will hold up. I hope it is good though, and i hope i can see it on regular tv (it was either cable tv, or cable internet).

I really like the Viewtiful Joe universe. It is very tongue and cheek and just very cool.

Hopefully this show keeps a cheesy type personality, but keeps it a more mature show instead of a show just for kids. Many of the aspects of Viewtiful Joe appeals to an older audience that actually 'gets' the jokes from the game.

The new character is pretty cool too. I don't know what role she will play, but hopefully she won't be edited. Actually that character design really gives me hope, because it appears it is being geared towards older audiences.

This show could be great for Cartoon Network, or even FoxBox. Wherever it goes I hope it is a success.

If it's comming unedited it might show up on or at least toonami.

Do you think it will come Down Under (Australia)??? Cause i loove VJ!!

MarioSeptember 08, 2004

I hope so but I highly doubt it considering Viewtiful Joe practically wasn't even released here, only 5000 copies were distributed Australia wide. Unless the upcoming PS2 release is popular then I really doubt we'll see anything else Viewtiful Joe related. face-icon-small-frown.gif
