Conker Loves Playing Game Boy...

...and not even the Microsoft takeover will stop him from playing Killer Instinct on his SP.

As some of you may be aware, Conker's Bad Fur Day is being remade for the Xbox. "Who cares?" you cry? "I came here for GameCube news, not that damned Xbox! I never liked Rare anyway! They betrayed Nintendo!"

And so on. Well, hold your horses, Negative Nancy, and take a look at this:

Conker playing Killer Instinct on his SP

Seems that while you may not like Rare, Rare's still quite fond of Nintendo. That's a Game Boy Advance SP in Conker's hot little hands. For those who remember the original Bad Fur Day, Conker had a couple of neat idling animations when you left him in the main overworld. Sometimes he'd whistle, sometimes he'd look at a..er, specialist magazine, and sometimes he'd whip out his Game Boy for a quick game of Killer Instinct.

And now, to madly read far too much into this amusing screenshot. There's definitely a green bar at the top of that screen, and what appears to be two characters facing each other. Add to this the recent comment from Rare's GBA team in their "Tepid Seat" column:

Hopefully there will be more GBA games to come - KI & KI2 would be ideal for the GBA.

Reading far too much into this? Most likely. But it sure is fun to speculate, isn't it?

I happen to think that this is really badass, but, i wonder what the legal mumbo jumbo (not the Rare character) is? How is it that Rare is allowed to put the game boy on the XBOX?

they may have Nintendo's permission, what with it being free advertising and all, and to a key 18+ audience.

KI ideal for the GBA? No. KI ideal for the DS? Yes. Why? The button limitation. KI without 6 buttons isn't KI at all....it's something I'd pass on.

I'm impressed, I'm saving this shot.

Eh, I have KI: Gold for N64 and it was indeed a decent game, but it was too easy. I was able to beat the hardest difficulty, master?, using every character. I just can't get excited about it and dont really care if its on gba or DS or not at all. I do, however, want to see Rare continuing to develop for Nintendo handhelds, and MS will probably let them until sometime down the road they release their own handheld.

Oh, I dont really like how conker looks in that screen shot either. The graphics are good, but Conker himself seems...wrong somehow. He looks too much like a stuffed animal and not the chain smoking, liquor chugging womanizer we all know and love him as.

Another reason why I love PGC.

HA!! Take that Gates!

What if it's the opening to an idle animation, then Conker throws down the GBA or breaks it...and plays and Xbox or something. Probably not, but who knows. All I'm gonna say is

RARE IZ COMEING BAK 2 NITNEDO!!112!

Sorry.

Yeah, it's kind of disturbing to me as well, since I saw the new screens from the game. I know Rare likes the fur rendering and all, but.... they don't seem to know when too much is too much. I guess it'll look better in motion, but he does look too much like a stuffed toy. Let's just hope for the children's sake there are no sewing needles inside face-icon-small-wink.gif
