Find out what some more of Square-Enix's upcoming DS games are. Updated! with a list of all the new titles.

Nintendo has recently updated its Japanese Nintendo DS website, and has added a large list of titles in development. Most notable are some of the games coming from Square-Enix. Here's a list of their games.

  • Egg Monster Heroes

  • New Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles

  • New Seiken Densetsu games (Mana series)

  • Dragon Quest Monsters

  • Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest

Most notable are the addition of a Seiken Densetsu game, also known as the Mana series here in the US (Secret of Mana, Sword of Mana, Legend of Mana). Also notable is a Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest title. The first Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest game, which came out on Game Boy Advance, was very popular in Japan but sadly was never released stateside.

The full list of new titles can be found on www.the-magicbox.com. It includes new RPGs from GameArts and Namco. GameArts was responsible for Grandia and Lunar. Also, a new Nintendo title called "Nintendogs" which has instantly become one of my favorite game titles, ever.

The Game Arts game intrigues me...But I also want to know if the One Piece games are coming to the U.S. now that it's been licensed here...

Whoa. The DS already seriously has more Konami support than the GameCube. I did not expect this (especially after Konami announced Metal Gear Acid for the PSP).

And news about a new Game Arts RPG for the DS is really cool. I don't think we've heard anything from Game Arts since they teamed up with Enix to make Grandia X, well before even the Square-Enix merger (unless I've just been out of it lately).

No, I think you're right- Game Arts is my favorite RPG maker and I've been following them quite closesly since Grandia Xtreme came out. I can't wait for their DS RPG. face-icon-small-happy.gif

NintenDogs was on the E3 list, and on display too. It wasn't really anything at the time. I'm guessing it's some sort of virtual pet thing.

RadiostormAugust 01, 2004

I'd get a Nintendo DS just for some Mystical Ninja action. Harvest Moon DS sounds like a fantastic idea too.

MarioAugust 01, 2004

The lineup of western* games should be revealed on August 10 if i understand this correctly

The title list of the overseas software house August 10 always in the American Nintendo Co. home page publication schedule.

*western = games that aren't made in japan

Shift KeyAugust 01, 2004

Awww, I think a Western game would be killer. You could dress up in a poncho and drink whiskey all day while spouting Clint Eastwood lines.
i'm getting deja vu right now

CaillanAugust 01, 2004

Horray for another Geoman game!

It's interesting that developers seem to be buying into the DS more than they are into the PSP. Take that Gamespy/IGN/additional generic crappy gaming media francises.

A few months ago, I really didn't expect Nintendo to deliver anything decent with the DS, and thought the it was just a vehicle to attempt to nullify the hype comming from the PSP. The new aesthetics in addition to all the games comming from good studios, however, I'm beginnng fell it's more and more likely I'll invest in one of these things.

I just checked the list myself, both on The Magic Box and Nintendo.jp, and they both say "Sonic DS", not "Sonic Dice."

It's be awhile since we've heard from Game Arts. I LOVED Grandia 1 & 2 and I'm frothing at the month for any info.
DS + Game Arts = me want a DS even more!

And Nintendogs sounds rad! Perhaps a game you control a pack of dogs chasing after old grannies? I'm in! face-icon-small-cool.gif

Nintendo Power's had those games on their release lists for quite some time now, so they'll probably be released in the next year or so, considering the cartoon is gonna start airing in the fall.

Harvest Moon DS? The likeliness of me buying this system has increased 20%.

Wow, for Guitar Smasher this list acted just like a power-up.

JaleAugust 02, 2004

Hello905920August 02, 2004

I'd just like to let you guys know in case you plan on looking up any of the Konami games....they have an assload of "Main" sites, one for every freakin branch of the company to be exact. I"m still not sure which one did VH. but i'm gonna keep looking thru them...

g4everAugust 02, 2004

Hehehe face-icon-small-smile.gif, Castlevania and a ton of GREAT RPGS. Harvest moon ds.... so many possibilities.. face-icon-small-smile.gif
So many great games, my demand for this system grew 500% today.
This is going to be a great year for nintendo!!!. BTW-the systems overhall is freaking awsome!!! Let's all pray it actually comes out this year, with as many of these titles as possible!!!!

WackerJrAugust 02, 2004

Survival Kids and Harvest Moon!!!!!

Survival Kids was a quality, quality GBC game! My 6th Form fell in love with it! Nice one Konami for making another one!

jj984jjAugust 02, 2004

Nintendogs is something of a tomodachi that you command with voice commands from what I've heard, I've also seen some screens floating around the net and DS sites like DS-Insider. Personally, I think all these titles are great, I haven't seen some of these titles since the SNES days and I've never even seen a few of them on a Nintendo product, only on PS or PS2. This is getting very interesting, I was all for DS before instead of PSP(bc of it's uncommon format, high probability of short battery life, straying away from the gaming industry, etc.), but now Nintendo has just completely amazed me at how seriously they are taking their competition this time around unlike the 64/PS days. Quite amazing.

SylAugust 02, 2004

w00t, Marvelous games announcd for the DS.

but *PLEASE* bring the new river king game over this time.

nickmitchAugust 02, 2004

Hip hop hooraaaaaaayy!!!

Wait a minute.....

HOOOOOOOOOO!!

g4everAugust 02, 2004

Hmmmm, FFCC.... face-icon-small-sad.gif I want FFTDS (Final fantasy tactics DS). This will be the ultimate machine for SRPG's!!! Think about it!!! There so much square-enix has to work with. Oh well, it will come along soon enough, for right now I am still EXTREMLY happy with the line up. I'm just going to have to work on FFTA for now and finish the last 10 missions (If I can figure out how to get them unlocked, and yes I have the guide).

I'm curious to know how Nintendo is courting its Japanese developers. Many of them seem like they'd be all over the PSP. Either there are some issues with the PSP developers don't like discussing, Nintendo's royalties have gone way down, or they really, really like the touch screen. Perhaps embracing the PSP scares them from a game budget standpoint?

Ian SaneAugust 03, 2004

"I'm curious to know how Nintendo is courting its Japanese developers."

Me too. Whatever it is they should apply it to the Revolution.

nitsu niflheimAugust 03, 2004

It might be that every handheld system to ever compete against a Nintendo handheld system has failed and they want to support the system that at least has a higher chance of survival out of the gate.

Ian SaneAugust 03, 2004

"It might be that every handheld system to ever compete against a Nintendo handheld system has failed and they want to support the system that at least has a higher chance of survival out of the gate."

Nah, that's no good. That sort of reasoning supports the PS3. face-icon-small-smile.gif Let's pretend it's something else.
