Rainbow Six 3 Details & Screens

'Ding' is still the best name ever.

We have some screens and information on Rainbow Six 3. 15 missions with a plot based on "today's headlines" are played with 4-man teams, which you can see in the screens. Included also is a 2-player split-screen cooperative mode. Controlling teammates is done with a "Quick Order Interface." Of course, the trademark realism of Rainbow Six 3 is in full effect, with one-bullet kills and top-notch graphics.

Ubi Soft has confirmed to PGC that the GameCube version of Rainbow Six 3 does not include the online features found in other versions of the game.

First you buy-out Redstorm Entertainment... Then you come out with Rainbow Six: Raven Shield with dumbed-down team controls, silly physics, and so-so AI.... Then you bring us Rainbow Six 3, taking away our beloved team roster, making us use dumb-looking characters who don't wear helmets in urban combat situations (did "training" and "safety" go out the window!? realistic, my ass) and finally give us a GameCube version that doesn't even have a LAN option.

Thanks Ubi-Soft, this is another game i'm not buying.

Would Pandora Tomorrow for GC have the LAN option, because that would be the only case I'd consider either? Meh, I'll just get the PC versions of both and go online.

Man, I loved the original Rainbow Six on N64 - co-operative missions were awesome! We need more of that!

From what I've heard, the Gamecube version of Pandora Tomorrow doesn't have any multiplayer whatsoever.

"From what I've heard, the Gamecube version of Pandora Tomorrow doesn't have any multiplayer whatsoever."

Well then it better be half price because we would be getting half the game. That's like the best thing about that title. Some people who own it say they haven't even played the one player game yet because the mp is THAT good.

See? THIS is why Nintendo shouldn't be so anti-online. Because of their anti-online stance we're getting by FAR the worst versions of these games. We're getting screwed here and it's Nintendo's fault. And to make it worse these games aren't going to sell (justifiably so) which may cause Ubisoft to drop support and screw us even more.

Well Mouse, that may be true, but Ubisoft has their mouth entirely shut about the GC version of Pandora's Tomorrow for whatever reason.

I hardly consider online play as being the ultimate feature in a videogame- stop exaggerating, Ian, you're quite apt at it. :\

well with Pandora Tomorrow's style, it pretty much requires online for multiplayer. Split screen isn't really an option. Do you think people would be Goldeneye or Mario Kart fanatics if they didn't have multiplayer?

mouse_clickerApril 08, 2004

Goldeneye, yes, because it has an incredibly good singleplayer. Mario Kart's a bad example because that entire game is built around multiplayer, just like with Super Smash Brothers- don't try to skew the results, Dan. face-icon-small-wink.gif In any case, there is such a thing as LAN play, and it's already been used in Gamecube games. Besides all that, Ian was referring to online in general, and even if Pandora Tomorrow's multiplayer won't work in in splitscreen, there's still the singleplayer, AND there are dozens of other games where online play isn't anywhere near as essential. If he is only referring to Pandora Tomorrow, he's still overreacting because it's just one game. And if Ubisoft handles the Gamecube version of it as they did with the first Splinter Cell, it'll suck regardless of multiplayer support.

Great, now I'm hearing about Ghost Recon 2 on consoles.

When will this "Tom Clancy + Ubi Soft + GameCube = forgettable port" curse be broken?

As far as Pandora Yesterday is concerned, like Ian said we'd better get this half price, or get twice the missions and better graphics. Multiplayer is apparently a major component to the game, just as I never see my roommate touch the single player campaign in SOCOM II.

As King Arthur from the Monty Python film would say, "Ubi-Soft, you make me sad. So be it! Come, Patsy!"
