New Look for Nintendo.com

Talk about a face lift.

Nintendo of America's official homepage has gotten a major upgrade over the weekend. You can take a gander at it by heading over to the usual web address, but here's a quick rundown of the new stuff.

The most obvious difference is the new white backdrop, which makes the site look really slick. Also, the official game list has become more searchable. The big addition, however, is that after literally years of "maintenence," the Nintendo.com forums are officially up and running.

We're still playing around with the new Nintendo dot com, and you should do the same.

I was just thinking they needed a new layout yesterday, its about time. Beautiful Site.

Ian SaneNovember 24, 2003

I don't really care for this design. There's too much stuff packed into one page. Plus I can't get ANYTHING to work. Maybe their server is just getting hit hard but everytime I click on a link on that page I get that wait thing in the status bar and then it just does nothing and says "Done".

They did need a better game list though so I'm glad they acknowledged that.

I'm having the same problem. It's a great looking site, I just wish I could navigate it.

They need a backround- I hate navigating complex webpages like that with white behind everything. It just breaks my concentration.

Bill AurionNovember 24, 2003

I can't register Mario & Luigi because it's so freakin' slow!

;_____;

mouse_clickerNovember 24, 2003

They're having a lot of connection problems, too- they keep logging me out and not letting me log back in.

Gibdo MasterNovember 24, 2003

I have to say it was kind of dumb of them to change the site in the middle of this Zelda bonus disk thing.

RobageejamminNovember 24, 2003

Well i love it. i was also thinkin they should change it like a week ago. Some very cool stuff. If they actually meant what they said about all the membership extras and the beta testing and stuff, its gonna be one hell of a site. I think i actually will go there alot more now.

But yea, same problems with the slowness. I'm sure they'll fix it...eventually

Bill AurionNovember 24, 2003

Well after about a dozen error messages telling me that my PIN number was wrong, I finally got it registered...Once it finally loaded, I saw that the layout is actually pretty nice...Too bad I can't enjoy it till the Bonus disc rage calms down... face-icon-small-sad.gif

This is crap. Not the site, but that it won't remember my login from one page to the next.

I love the new site layout and design though. It is a major overhaul that was badly needed.

Sabres FanNovember 24, 2003

It looks like Nintendo.ca to me.

cubedcinder128November 24, 2003

I'm pretty much with the general consensus. The new site looks fantastic, but they desperately need to fix their server or whatever the heck it is that is causing the extremely slow speed. face-icon-small-disgusted.gif

I'm not so crazy about the new site, I don't think it's too inviting anymore. It seems to be more of a bland business page. Plus, I don't think all those images will load when I get back to the dial up. I do like how the register product thing is easy to find now. Overall, I think it's easier to navigate, but it's all white...

Fluke WormNovember 24, 2003

I'll be happy to check out the new Nintendo forums when the site gets their problems fixed(I had the forums open-up inside the little scrolling frame). But now I'll be torn between posting here or at Nintendoface-icon-small-disgusted.gif.

joshnickersonNovember 25, 2003

Looks like whatever kink was slowing them down is now fixed... ah, I'm reminded of going to Nintendo.com in the late 90s when I first got the internet as posted messages on Nsider messageboard as Josh3000... ahh, those were the days.

KnowsNothingNovember 26, 2003

Since I absolutley LOATHED the old site, a makeover is just the thing. I might actually go to the site now. I love the new style. face-icon-small-smile.gif
