Chat it up through your GameCube.

Sammy, the Japanese developer who recently made news by almost merging with Sega, is planning to release a keyboard peripheral for the GameCube. The keyboard will be available this November in Japan and will allow players to talk to each other in online games. The keyboard will be optimized to work with RPGs such as Sega's Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution, which will be released later this year in Japan. It is not yet known if the keyboard will work with other games. The keyboard is expected to retail for 6,800 yen ($57). More details about this product, including its special features, will be revealed at the 2003 Tokyo Game Show in September.

Its ironic that a company that was this close to merging with Sega is making peripherals specifically for their games. What's also interesting is their venture in hardware outside of Pachinko machines. what else is next?
