Who would have the balls to name their game after a single letter of the alphabet? Why, Namco, of course!

Isao Nakamura and Hideo Teramoto, producers of the new game in the Ridge Racer family, were recently interviewed in Tokyo, and Polygon Magazine (formally known as XenGamers) translated what the two said into plain English. How nice of them. Here's a sample:

Question: What other new elements can players expect?

Nakamura-san: Our target has been to include thirty cars from manufacturers around the world. Our target audience was global, so we wanted to reflect vehicles from many different countries. Fundamentally, players will start out in story mode and unlock new cars as they progress. There will be a learning curve as players achieve.

Teramoto-san: Our initial work with the Pantera caused some people to question our objectives. Inside the development team we thought it was great, but others thought it wasn't necessary at all.

Question: I've heard there will be a large number of realistic courses also, can you tell us about that?

Nakamura-san: There will be many courses reproduced realistically in the game. That aspect of development was inherited from the Moto-GP series.

Teramoto-san: Aside from new tracks there will also be a variety of exciting new gameplay elements and modes. We hope everyone continues looking forward to it.
