Animals Not Crossing to Europe

And it doesn't look like they'll make it to Australia either.

Things are looking worse for a local release of Animal Crossing with Nintendo commenting today that it will never make it to Europe. This is bad news for Australia too, as we rely on Europe for their PAL games.

Nintendo said that there would be problems with localisation (remember, entire seasons would have to be flipped in the case of Australia, but not for Europe, and the loss of Thanksgiving would cause more problems with the loss of Franklin and his furniture set) and the fact that the next game is well into production, so it would be pretty pointless in putting so much effort into the first game when they are hard at work on the second.

Nintendo commented that “Animal Crossing 2 (tentative title) will become the new way of communicating for the console generation. It will see a happiness-themed community of friends the likes of which have never been imagined”.

While this isn't all bad (it looks like we will get Animal Crossing...eventually), it seems to be one more Nintendo game - again - that we miss out on. And this time, it's not just a game, but a whole series of e-reader cards and Nintendo game giveaways. Ah well, we can only hope that the Nintendo games in Animal Crossing 1 will come back in Animal Crossing 2.

When asking Nintendo Australia for a comment on this, I was told that they do not currently have any information on Animal Crossing or when or if it will be released.
