The fast single-transistor RAM in the GameCube hits a milestone ...
NEC announced today that the MoSys 96-Mbit 1T-SRAM used in the Nintendo GameCube hit the 25 million units shipped mark, after only one year since the GameCube's launch.
Perrin Kaplan, Vice President of Marketing & Corporate Affairs at Nintendo of America said "We are very pleased with the successful partnership we have with both NEC and MoSys, allowing us to leverage their technologies to produce a unique gaming experience with Nintendo GameCube for our customers."
Nintendo's GameCube uses 192Mbits of the single-transistor SRAM, with it's key feature being it's extremely low latency.
