Because Kalla knows this game didn't have enough stuff to do in it.

The inevitable Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave expansion pass got its details - and a launch - tonight.

The pass is now available on the system eShop for US$34.99 or equivalent and will come with three waves of content.

  • Wave 1 (out now): four new weapons based on existing Heroes' Relics from Fire Emblem: Three Houses (specifically the Sword of the Creator, Areadbhar, Amyr, and Failnaught).
  • Wave 2 ("holiday"): New outfits for the playable cast and the ability to have three gods playable in part III of the main story.
  • Wave 3 (2027): New stories for the four other "Flame Lords" - Bertrand, Tallimun, Orchel, and Anatolia.

As usual, the best way to play a Nintendo RPG is to wait a year or 2 for Nintendo to stop making it. Glad I resisted the urge to play my copy of Fortune's Weave. Guess it can sit there on the shelf for a year.

This seems a bit overpriced. To me it's worth about $20 so I don't think I will be getting it. Do these DLC passes go on sale?

I know the Three Houses DLC went on sale at least once before because that's when I purchased it. However, I wouldn't expect a big price cut. So, it's possible that in a couple years, there could be a sale on it. Like holiday time or something when they do a special "giant sale in the eshop" event. If Nintendo does a discount on DLC, it's usually about 20-25% off so don't expect a big drop in price.

The previous Fire Emblem expansion passes went on sale recently as part of Nintendo's "fund the tariff legal fees" "Appreciation sale", but I wouldn't bank on us seeing another of those considering the circumstances involved.

As far as value is concerned, from what I understand these are 4 whole campaigns that were originally cut from the game because the developers thought the game would be too bloated. You can argue whether it was a good idea to add content that was cut for a reason back in, but I'm not sure you can argue it isn't worth the money when you're theoretically getting an entire another game's worth of content.
