Discuss it in Talkback!

This morning Nintendo held a presentation and breakfast at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Breakfast was served in a room with about ten playable GameCubes with games including Star Fox Adventures, Metroid Prime, Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Sunshine.

Around half an hour later the presentation began. The stage was set with a red settee and the background made up of a panel with two doors.

"Big Brother" then introduced the speakers who would be Frederick Dior, David Gosen and a special guest. "Welcome to the Big Brother House, would Frederick Dior please come into the diary room."

Frederick Dior is a Games Industry Analyst from France, he works for a company called Data Monitor. "Big Brother" asked him to speak about predictions for the Games Industry, including his expectation figures of growth globally of around 15% and in Europe 14% by 2004.

A video was then shown of the public's opinion of the GameCube, their favourite games and characters. Following this was a video from Satoru Iwata, speaking to the European press for the first time as President of NCL. Mr Iwata spoke of the expected installed base for GameCube of 16 million worldwide and the Nintendo Difference among his topics and concluded with "The best is yet to come."

The next person to speak was David Gosen, Managing Director of NOE. He also affirmed Nintendo's healthy position in the European market, with over 1 million consoles sold already. Another video reel followed this showing the best moments for GameCube in Europe including the many promotions that had taken place over the past 118 days that the console has been released. Mr. Gosen then spoke about the many games to be expected this year, including seven more first party GC titles by Christmas and this was completed with a video of third parties including Activision, Acclaim and Capcom praising the console.

Asked about the recent price drops by Sony and Microsoft he replied that there are no plans, at present, to reduce the price of Nintendo GameCube.

And now we reach the special guest. Guesses were made by many as they showed a video of Mario's best moments and I guessed correctly! Charles Martinet treated us to a performance of Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Baby Mario and of course Charles Martinet. This highlight ended the presentation.
