Discuss it in Talkback!

Nintendo.com has a lengthy and pretty interesting interview with the development team at Tiburon responsible for EA's NCAA Football 2003. Hit the link above for the goods! Here's a quick excerpt:

NP: Will the individual player attributes of a specific team match real-world players?

JL: We try not to focus on the players in college football, because it's really more about the team. It's not so much about the individual accolades, so we focus more on the teams, the fight songs, the stadiums, the mascots, the cheerleaders and everything that's really specific to college football. Whereas in a professional game you get more about individual people and their contracts, we don't feel that that's the major focus in college football.

NP: Can you give some more specifics about what you've done to capture the collegiate feel?

JL: We have all new fight songs this year. We have three times more than we've ever had. They've all been recorded brand-new this year. We recorded them with a 67-piece orchestra. So we did a lot of research. We started over a year ago researching these fight songs to know what teams play in specific situations. So if you're a Nebraska fan, you'll know that they're going to play Hail Varsity after a touchdown, and Dear Old Nebraska U after the point-after. We've never had that amount of detail in the past. We tried to include everything that we could get. They sound really good, and it's really specific to college football. You hear the fight songs, you hear the band, you hear the rousers and the cadences. It just echoes college football when you hear it.
